Installed the 4300k HID kit. Looks very NICE! Big difference in overall light output..of course. I can see things now that I couldn't see before! <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> The kit consited of Phillips ballasts and HID bulbs. I have to get new H1 bulbs though when I do the MC front end cause im pretty sure the projectors use H1.

Usually when you buy a HID kit, it includes: 2 ballasts, harness, and 2 HID bulbs.

Wow looks nice (with the exception of the blur in every pic).
Where did you get the kit from? how much was it? was the install easy?
Sorry for the questions.....I just think it would look nice on my car... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/blush.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Punkass <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> haha, ya gt specR, I tried my best but the camera was pretty damn sensitive and I was in a rush.
I got the kit from a friend for a very good price (which I cant get again...sorry guys). HID kits will normally run you from $300-600 depending on brands and what not. The install was fairly easy. All you do is take out the old stock bulbs, put the new HID bulbs in and connect the HID wiring harness to the stock wiring. The new harness then connects to the ballasts. As for ballast mounting, I really couldnt find a great place to put it on my s14. I just decided to Zip Tie them for now. Gotta love them zip ties man..they do wonders.
And as for your questions GtspecR, stopping asking me man! haha j/k. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'>

Not really sure what your asking. But yes , I think they do sell HID kits on ebay. Just make sure the kit comes with the 2 HID bulbs, 2 ballasts, and the wiring harness. Try going to Groupbuycenter.com as well.

this is what i meant to say....
buy one of these housings (maybe not this exact one, but a housing that will take H4 bulbs)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymot....3050699 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1873050699)
then something like what this guy is selling
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymot....2877836 (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1872877836)
install and it will get true HID for the S13, right?

hachiroku, do not buy those kinds of kits, theylook cheap to me. i cannot stress this enough, and nobody listens, buy McCulloch! they are one of the Best HID kits out there, unlike Hella and Philips [which only provide the Ballast, they dont make kits] McCulloch makes a whole kit for you. Gourmet Garage sound fimilar? should be cuz its one of the best, and its made by McCulloch! check this out

i sent an email to the seller and the people who won the bids, all good feedback. 100% brand new, easy to put on. and most of all CHEAP! u deal wiht the factory instead of a outside dealer trying to make money off you.
This kit includes the following:
2 McCulloch® Xenon Retrofit HID 6000K Capsules made in Japan
2 McCulloch® Ballasts made in Germany
2 McCulloch® ignitors made in Japan
2 McCulloch® Ballast Power Lines (heavy duty wiring harness)
11 McCulloch® Cable Ties
2 McCulloch® Fuses (20A)
1 McCulloch® Installation Instructions (English)
Brand New in box
im pretty sure thats everything you need. you can check other sites. they sell for 490! thats the lowest at groupbuycenter for these HID. this person is selling it at 309! cant beat that price for a McCulloch HID kit.
i believe all the kits are the same, they come with everything the same, the only diff? is the bulbs that come wiht it.

yea ur bulb size is H1 you would wanta kit that has about 7000k or ABOVE! i believe 7000k is about blue/light purple i think go a lil higher and youll hit purple. the higher you go the less light will be outputted. becuz i think ull have some coat over the bulb. and its blocking the light. 4300k is the best. gives out the most output in light. 4300k is white..im going to get that HID kit on that ebay site i posted 6000k lil white blue nice, cant beat brand new for only 309 bucks for McCulloch.

I personally like 4300k the best. I dont really like the other colors. I'm into the white look. Mercedes uses somewhere around 6000k which is that Purple color, which i dont like. I think BMW come stock around 4500k - 5000k or something.
I love the way they turned out. Good money spent.

i think they're cheap too, that's why i used words such as 'something like' etc. because kanekz couldn't understand when i was trying to say something along the lines of "buy a housing that will accept H4 bulbs and an HID conversion kit that will with H4." I only used them for examples.
thanks for the referral to McCulloch kits, I've yet to do research on the available HID kits on the market and up until now. I thought S13 will never get HID because I thought conversion kits were car specific and never found anyone that has done a conversion on the S13 (but I see someone on freshalloy has now) nor could I find an S13 HID conversion kit.
it was only when i decided to look at the kits on ebay and then also found housing at the same time did i take a guess that you needed to buy the housing and also buy the kit.
just needed to make that clear

There is a new HID kit out there that is better than the McCulloch. It is the Santeca Thunderbeam HID kit. I didnt want to post on here about it for 2 reasons.
1. I dont have any info on them on my webpage yet. Not till the end of the week.
2. I sell them and I dont want to turn the thread into a comercial post!
Here is some info though:
Available Bulb Sizes
- H1
- H3
- H4 Hi/Lo
- H7
- HB4 OR 90006
- 9005
- 9004
Bulb Colors
- Super White (4300k)
- White Blue (5200k)
- Ultra Blue (7500k)
- Mega Blue (900k)
The coolest thing is you can get a H4 hi/lo bulb! High and low beams on the same bulb is cool as hell! I plan on getting a groupbuy together if there is enough interest and I clear it with Santeca.

well, you kinda almost turned it into a commercial post. i already seen it. ive read having it in the same bulb is not good, becuz i read youd have to turn off your low beam, for about 3 seconds, and then turn on the high beam. and 3 seconds in the dark driving 80mph is very dangerous. you have to wait for a while to make it safe for the bulb. also you didnt state the make of the Ballast. ive never heard of this new company. www.speedalliance.com has this HID kit. they use a HELLA ballast. again, this is new so u dont know how well it will work, and also with a HID kit already, is there a need for high beam???
as for S13s not having HID, you need to buy the sealed beam housing.

I'm having one problem right now. I cant get the HID and the High-beam to work simmultaneously. Believe me, the HID's are bright enough, but I wanted to change the high beam bulbs to yellow. I heard that it could be something with the fuses on the HID harness but I cant be sure. Anyone else know? I'll probably be asking in TECH section soon.

when retrofiting HID onto a car that doesnt have any you lose the ability to have highbeam its one or the other highbeam or low beam you pick. i heard from many people and companies that you will lose the ability to have high beams,

Thats not true with the Santeca HID's. They have a high/low HID H4 bulb! I also dont think you have to wait 3 seconds when you switch from high to low either but I am checking with the manufacturer now on that. As far as it being untested that is definatly not true it has been extensively tested. It is being used on the cars of just about everyone who sells it! I just dont use the Hi/Low bulb because I have 3 projector lights in my Silvia conversion. I'll post pics of it when I get the new engine in.

No. I will post up a few pics soon. I am really trying to keep the post non-comercial..... LOL I think I am failing. I will go ahead and get everything on my webpage this weekend and post it up. These kits are nice, I was very impressed with them and I was a bit sceptical at first!
