i asked for a quote to repaint the whole body and fix all of the dents at a local shop today (a close friend referred me to them)
and the guy (frank) will do it for 850
that includes sanding, fixing the dents, and repainting the whole body
i saw their works and they did great

Nice <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>
It makes more sense why your deal is $850, because your pretty much recoating the car. Your car will be looking brand new once you get it bad. Fresh new paint.....no CLEARCOAT will make your car look like it just rolled of the showroom floor.

damn thats a good price, wouldn't be in Houston by any chance? I need a new paint job, i'm gonna rawk the old skool two-tone scheme white/bronze., i hate this red color.

WTF?! i dunno where that came from , lol , but clear coat is what makes the car HAVE a showroom shine , if there was no clear coat the car would look dull , and clear coat also helps to seal the paint so that it doesn't eventually fall off your car in sheets...hehe
not trying to be a jerk or anything , just telling it like it is

hehe thats cool, I actually got that line (with some other words) from the guy that painted my car.
It does look like it came straight from the showroom floor. <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>

All depends what kind of paintjob your doing. Base/Clear is the most common and most durable now, but if you went with a laquer job, you wouldn't put a clearcoat on it. Just a LOT of wax.
