Ceramic Engine

I've known about ceramic engines for a while now but I didn't know what made them special. Today I did a search and found this (http://www.geocities.com/CapeCanaveral/1614/) and now I'm getting more interested. I want to know more if anybody can help please do.

ceramic engies go on the same concept as all ceramic car parts: better heat removel, light weight, ect. the main problem with it was say it got real hot then u splash water on it....bam its gone...ceramic is also weaker then aluminum...which is weaker then iron..so the block strenght isnt so great... &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>

hmm, thats really fascinating... &nbsp;i wonder if you could just use all ceramic internals (piston walls, pistons, rods, crank, or whatever they do) and then put it in a metal block to protect it from the water and such. &nbsp;intresting... &nbsp; <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/eh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':eh:'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sigh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':rolleyes:'>

I don't understand how it creates no emmisions.

As far as I can tell it's still an internal combustion engine that simply uses a new material. &nbsp;Yes it needs less energy and is more efficient, but internal combustion doesn't create emmisions due to the block material, but rather the combustion process.

Otherwise it sounds pretty cool. &nbsp;It would be nice to have an 80lb engine in the engine bay. &nbsp;That's good for like a 300lb diet on my 240.

From what I understand the ceramic engine allows the combustion to occur at a higher temperature which I'm guessing lowers emissions significantly. Kind of like the gas burner in chemistry when the flame is yellow black smoke comes out when it's blue very little black smoke comes out (if any) .
