Mobil 1 10w-30 or 40

Synthetic is too expensive for me. Especially since I am burnign a crap load of oil. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/confused.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt='???'>

Valvoline SynPower in my GTI. &nbsp; It's a full synthetic and it's far less expensive than Mobil 1. &nbsp;I suggest it to anyone that asks. &nbsp; It's a great oil, it keeps the lifters quieter than any other oil I've used in that car.

My 240SX has run its entire life thus far on conventional oil. &nbsp;I'm currently running Castrol part-synthetic and it seems to work very well considering how inexpensive it was.

Alright, I just got done flushing my engine with the Valvoline engine flush and now I have Mobile 1 10-30 synthetic blend. How much oil do you gusy put in? I have 4 and a half quarts and it seems way high on the dip stick.

After I get my engine broke in I am gonna run Redline 10w-30. &nbsp;I already have Redline MTF in my transmission but havent got to test it out yet.

The book that I read said crankcase is 3.5Q + filter. Most people I talk to (including myself) put in 4 quarts. More oil, and it can seep out of gaskets, feed thru the valvecover vent into the intake tract, and blow seals. But only .5Q too much, you probably only have to worry about the oil in the intake.

Edit: &nbsp;Oh yea. &nbsp;I use Mobil 1 synthetic.

damn! the last time, me being stupid, put in about 6 (maybe) or it could've been 5. But yeah, it did seap out of the valve cover infront. nothing else happened though (that I know of). Now I have 4.5 quarts and it's above the line on the dip stick. Should I let some out?

You guys do realize the owner's manual has a section on all kinds of basic do it yourself jobs (like changing oil, wheels, coolant, etc). &nbsp; There's also a section that lists all of the capacities (like how much oil the engine takes). &nbsp; You should really try reading them before blindly going to work.

Oil capacity ranges between 3.75 and 4 quarts (w/ filter) depending if you believe the FSM or the owner's manual. &nbsp;I generally stick around the 3.75 number since it's difficult to drain the oil pan completely (though I usually jack the opposite side as much as possible to get every last bit I can out) thanks to a plug that isn't flush to the bottom.

mobil 1 syn 10 30
mobil 1 syn 75 90, edit* or is it 90 75(i cant rember which way the numbers go, but i do have a 5 gallon bucket of it for future use, costed me 100 bucks, kinda spendy)
only complaint is with the tranny fluid, when its cold it shifts alittle harder(not as smooth)...but goes away in about 5 min of driving...
