2 questions:

I drove my car home from bc this weekend, and i noticed the steering wheel would shake on and off. The alignment is perfect though and i had a load of time on my hands so i figured this out. it would shake for 12 secs, and then stop for 5, then 12 then 5 etc etc through the whole entire trip.

I really have no idea what could cause this, any ideas?

secondly, when i put my car in reverse, i roll back a bit and i hear this HUGE rubbing/grinding/vibration in the rear. is this my brakes being f'ed?

not too sure about your steering thing could anything from bad tie rod ends, lower Ball joints, tension rods chek out those spots see if they are still good.

As for the reverse thing Its a common S-13 gremlin theres a thread already on this one, but its nothing to worry about, it comes and goes so dont worry about it.

How are your fluid levels? Did you change anything in the steering system lately?

Another possible cause of vibration: your wheels are not perfectly round, you probaly can't catch it by eye, but stick it on a balance and you'll be able to see.

make sure your wheels along with being round are torqued properly, sometimes if lugs are loose itll throw vibration back into the steering wheel (and give a rubbing noise)

Driveshaft center bearing?

^^Thats why I was gonna suggest for the reverse vibration^^

For the shaking, Do you have stock suspension or shock and spring combo?
It very well could be the top hats, or top mounts, going out and wobbling.
This together with uneven tire wear would cause shaking.
