Hey everyone,  I am planning to do a CA18DET swap pretty soon and I was wondering how everyone's dealings have gone with these two.  I know unSTABLE Hybrids is very reputable but there prices are somewhat high.  Venus-Auto was used in SCC(as i'm sure you all know) but has anyone here dealt with them?  What kind of problems, if any, did you have with ordering from them?  Also, most importantly, was there anything wrong with or missing from your motorset/front clip?  I plan to get a clip but I was just wondering what condition everything everything was in and how long it took to get from the time you odered it.

Cliff's Notes: Want to know whether Venus-Auto sells good quality, complete front clips and whether or not unSTABLE Hybrids is worth the extra money and time to wait for a front clip(CA18DET)?

Thanks a ton
~Ian

Venus-auto is a importer only they can supply no support to you on problems or the install HENCE the cheaper price. Plus there in CA. and Unsatable is in GA. &nbsp;Any full service shop has to charge more. &nbsp;Overhead ect... Venus is a good source for motor and clips, but what do you need... <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sigh.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=''>

Bleh, SRs.... CA18DETs are the shit! &nbsp;If anyone here actually knows me they know exactly why I say that:p &nbsp;

I think it's great you are doing the CA swap. &nbsp; If you have any engine issues feel free to contact me, I know the CA like the back of my hand.

I heard that Venus only supplies companies with their motors in bulk or whatever you call it and they don't deal with single customers. Not sure if it's true. I'd go with Unstable Hybrids.

Venus auto will sell retail although they don't like to.

After the onflux of calls from that SCC article Venus auto got annoyed and started being dicks to everyone who wanted an SR. Understandable.

When you call em tell the your from company -insert name- and that you'd like to sample one of their clips for quality. That should get their attention. Keep in mind however that their prices fluxuate and they arn't the cheapest in the market. However I have never recieved a complaint from someone who's gotten one of their clips.

PS you guys should check out that Santeca.com site. Their project silvia is bad ass

Have you tried other places like Enjuku or Heavy Throttle?

well I would say finding one near your geographical location is advantagous.
With that said in California there are several reputable shops . A lot of them do not stock CA's but can get them.
I believe Cartune has some. Plus if your in Norcal and plan on doing this after mid december say January then We will be open in Livermore. Offering clips, motorsets, suspension , installs with warranties etc...
Yes we are affiliated with Cartune and this is a shameless self promotion plug <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/hehe.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':hehe:'>
I will say though you should research more because like others have said there are more places than just Venus Auto and Unstable hybrids

Heavy Throttle is one of the most expensive....but....they offer great service and support. &nbsp;Jeff and Yuri rock <img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/music.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':music:'> &nbsp;<img src="http://www.zilvia.net/f/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/tounge.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':p'> &nbsp; I call all the time w/ questions and they never give me attitude. &nbsp; And get this, after I sent the money I recieved my engine a day and a half later. &nbsp; They shipped it the same day they recieved the money.

Just keep your options open and go with who you are more comfortable with. &nbsp;::you get what you pay for::

why ca18
why not sr20?</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>

-A bunch of reasons but it you wanna see the majority of them check the FAQ Section about CA18DET. It really goes over it well and compares CA to SR.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I think it's great you are doing the CA swap. -I will definatley let you know if I need help with anything. I'll keep you updated with the swap as well, if ya want.

-I already e-mailed them a few times and got prompt responses as well as a quote and when the clips would be in so they didn't seem like they do not like to deal with individuals.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">Have you tried other places like Enjuku or Heavy Throttle?</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>

-These places are great but as a highschool student I need to save money without sacrificing quality as much as possible.

</span><table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="3" cellspacing="1"><tr><td>Quote </td></tr><tr><td id="QUOTE">I will say though you should research more because like others have said there are more places than just Venus Auto and Unstable hybrids</td></tr></table><span id='postcolor'>

-I know there are plenty of other shops and importers that could help me out but being on the East Coast, there aren't a whole lot of places close enough for me so I would end up getting it shipped anyway.

Thanks for all your help and I'll keep you posted for any of you that are interested in the swap. Thanks again!

Enjuku did a real nice deal on a SR20 for me. It cost me shipped what it costs at other places just to buy the engine.
