I have an 89 s13 with an s14 sr20det swapped in.
I know i need to use a USDM sensor because obviously the SR sensor will read KPH, but what i want to know is can i use any year KA sensor, or does it have to be from a SOHC for any reason to get a proper reading on my speedometer? And to keep things on topic, i no longer have the stock speed sensor, otherwise i wouldn't be asking this...
Thanks.

You have not searched.
Your assumptions are completely unfounded and inaccurate.
"Obviously" the SR VSS does not read in KPH, the cluster does. The signal is the same for any sensor from that chassis. All S13 VSSs are identical for the type of transmission, IE auto or manual, period.

Ok, that's good to know.

S13 manual and automatic speed sensors are different. Try putting an automatic speed sensor into a manual transmission. Its too big. The actual gear is the same size but the housing is different.

Reading is fundamental.

No one said they are the same.
