power/battery issue?

noticed this when i made a trip to bellingham 9 days ago:
armed my alarm before going to my gf's dorm
a few hours later, i try disarming it and nothing happens so i end up using the key to get in and the car starts up just fine
i get back home and the alarm works fine
yesterday:noticed a significant drain of electrical power whenever i switched on my foglights (never happened before)
alarm didn't work/disarm but finally did after messing with it for 10 minutes and the car wouldn't start and the stereo/low/high beams didn't work but the corners and the light inside worked until i got it started
it also sounded weak starting up, too
i left it at home because it wouldn't start/alarm wouldn't work and when i came back 8 hours later it worked just fine
alarm checked out fine today and a loss elec power when i switched on my high beams tonight

how old is it?

then if that dont work then you need an alternator
you might be thinking i waste my money on a battery if it is the alternator?
well think this way, you need the battery sooner or later and atleast when it goes u dont have to run back to the store to grab one.... my bro's battery died on a sunday and stores and shops where closed and he was lucky i had an Optima battery at home. i ordered one before cuz i thought he battery was died but it was just a loose connection....
he was lucky he had one for a spare
