The retainer spring fits around the clutch fork pivot. The first U shaped spring I fixed in place once the TO bearing and fork where in place. After that, I popped the retainer spring onto the pivot.

sweet, thanks for the help.

i just finished up my five speed swap! it runs great. shifts perfect. one problem is the idle is extremly low..

i think it might just be the throt. cable, but i might of also F'ed up my alternator. cause where it connects and gets it power from that one wire i kept tightening it, then i heard a snap. it wouldent really get tight after that. could that be the cause of a messed up idle?

also i have a loud tapping noise coming from around the block.. when i was taking of my side guide when my engine was out i noticed the chain was real loose. coulde it be my timing chain smacking around? what about my injectors? its quite loud though..

thanks for any help!

sounds like you snapped the bolt that holds the power lineonto the altinator, so yes, if that connection is loose, then that could make your car stumble.

depends on the noise, and is it constant??

what engine and how many miles.

search "knocking" and I bet you will get all kinds of threads.

it could be anything from a valve tapping, timing chain guide loose to a thrown rod.
