I'm going to have to go out on a limb and say it's the differential.

^^^ both of you are wrong, try cleaning your air filter, or if that doesnt work, hit the air filter with a stick :smash:

When starters start to go. Hitting them with a hammer is a common old school trick that can usually buy you a week or much longer. older mechanics will tell you this all the time.

So you probably hit it out of anger, but your tantrum actually was in the correct direction.

Check all the wires, make sure they arent too coroded, or loose. If your a manual driver, pop the clutch, to make sure the car runs, and its truly the starter.

then take it out and go to autozone, or whatever and put it on the tester.

starters simple and only a couple tools are needed. the swap takes less than an hour, 2 hours for first timers.

Check the following thread I posted a while back.....
http://www.zilvia.net/f/showthread.php?t=176491&highlight=ignition

Most people tend to think when their car won't start that it's the starter. In most case they forget that there is more than just a starter involved to starting a car. There's all kinds of things that need to be checked, (auto or stick??).

Use the SEARCH function here on Zilvia.net to find & download a Factory Service Manual for your year 240SX. Use the FSM procedures to troubleshoot your No-Start problem. Chances are it could be your ignition switch...not the part where you put the key in, but the opposite side, where the wires connect to the ignition module. The FSM can help you solve your problem.

Hope this helps....

Starter gets my vote.. I've had several bad starters that get stuck, then after gentle persuasion w/ a hammer start working again. Do check for loose or corroded wires as well on the starter and battery terminals.
