hey all
i just wanted to share my enthusiasm for these coilovers i just bought ! BC Racing BR 30 ways adjustable inverted. i got these from Ravspec. finally came and i'm so stoked right now... here are some pics! i plan on doing an installation of these sometime this weekend if i get the time too. the only thing that is a little daunting is that the clicks don't stop when you hit 0 so ,i don't really get it lol. if someone can shed some light on that. and that little red goop on one of the adjustment knobs. but, that's not to much to worry about i think it's just some kinda lubricant. well here are some pics! i got these mainly for a daily driven car and spirited driving. so, i don't need any kinda high dollar coilover for competition seeing as how i won't be doing that. maybe some occasional dumb sliding in a parking lot who knows =P i'll be doing a review of this as well updating it every month to see if i encounter any problems!
here are the pics!!!!

china...taiwan, wherever they are made, who cares. i haven't heard anyone complain about BC's on 240's or Evo's. so obviously they are doing something right.

Apexi's factory is in Taiwan isn't it? that might be a clue about these coilovers

I've had these installed for the last 7 months and been tracking them monthly in my 14. No issues whatsoever, great bang for buck! They came highly recommended on the subaru and evo forums.

Looks nice. What's the price on em.
many many STi owners run and track their cars HARD with BC racing coilovers and I have yet to hear a bad review...

these are starting to take the G35/350Z realm by storm, nothing but great reviews...they're also beginning to campaign a G35 Time Attack car but it uses their remote mount resivoirs.
They're affordable now, but I suspect once they catch on the price will go up properly

i've had the noninverted ones on my evo and they were awesome for the money. blows away any megans out there, why? because megans, apexi, HKS and BC's are all of the same manufacterer. they are just built w/ different specs and quality. BC racing stated themselves the BC racing coilovers are a revision of the ones that were OEMed to megans.
anyhow it should stop after a certain clicks in either direction. somethings loose if not. i cant comment about the red goop, just call ravspec and ask.
on the side-make sure u set the preload correctly before installing. preload may be off and will really throw off literally EVERYTHING else from ride height, your corner weight and ultimately your handling.

ooo thanks for the tips my man. but how would i set the preload correctly? haha then again i don't really know what that means but i'll search and try to find out. also, if somethings loose with the "knob" for the clicks. what would i be checking to make sure it's tight so i can make sure the knob stops.
thanks

loosen the lock collar right below the spring, until the spring drops, then tighten it back up as much as you can by hand, then 2 full turns with the wrenches is the usual recommended preload IIRC

Or, perhaps, no one knows that the right thing feels like?
There are tons of people who swear by Megans and KSports. Your argument has been rejected as invalid.

Have them on my S13, eh not too bad, but my preload may be off because the car is all over the place

Quoted for truth. I'm lucky I've always had a C5 Z06 to compare to... otherwise, I probably would have though Megans were OK, and never bought my Tanabe Sevens.
Anyhow, I'm glad you're happy with your purchase, and I'm sure you'll enjoy them :)

Man.... I need a good set of coilovers... Good luck with them!

yeah i got it for 975 shipped from ravspec i'd say that's a pretty good deal. like i said before i just got it for daily driving and the ease and fair price of getting a replacement shock if ever needed is what sold me really. so, for the preload i just gotta loosen the collar right under the spring? and then the spring will i guess push the collar down? and then i just use the wrench to turn the collar to move the spring up as much as i can and then i tighten the collars and what not and that's considered the correct preload? also, what dose iirc mean? i was reading the instructions on how to install these and i must say they're subpar for a novice like me haha. since the english isn't written very well. so, to adjust height on the front and rear coilovers i beleive i should adjust it up and down rotating the "bottom housing" since the manual says to not adjust the spring up and down for ride height adjustment because that'll cause unstable driving or something. if anyone knows the correct way correct me =D i'd like to know before i mess up my investment =DDDD
thanks a lot

Do you realize how many coilover there are for 240's... D2, Ksport, Stance, Silkroad, Racing Logic, MAX, Megan, Godspeed, etc.... The list goes on and on. And everytime a new coilover comes out everyone jumps on the bandwagon thinking that these new coilovers are the shit. The Bottom line is that 95% of the companies don't track test the coilovers to insure proper valving for the chassis. They simply go to the company in china/tawain and say I want a coilover for this chassis in these colors. This applies to some of the bigger name companies as well.
Also just because a coilover seems to work well for one chassis does not mean it works well for another. Suspension geometry and chassis weights and ratios, differ between cars. I mean you could have the same chassis like a 240, but one with a ka or sr or rb, will require different setups.
I'll be excited about a new coilover once theres proven R&D work on them. Until then, its just another cheap coilover...

are you shitting me? my argument has been rejected...your a homo. first off look at all the posts after mine about STi's G35's and legacy owners running them i have ridden in many evos with them and i ran JIC FLTA2 in my evo and for aggressive street driving they were just as good if not better because they were more comfortable. Ksporst suck dick and so do Megans. if those were your coilovers to argue with...you fail. could have at least picked tanabe or something...

also look at the price... but i will agree...just because STis evos and G35s handle well with them...does not mean an S chassis will. you are correct. as for R&D, i have never heard of any R&D for them on an S chassis. for an evo which i have owned for the past 4 years... evolutionm.net did alot of R&D on there project car and said they were one of the best handling coilovers for the price. oh well tho... i wouldnt buy 1000 dollar coilovers anyway...just not my style if you want your car to handle like a beast you have to drop 1500 or more...imo mine were 1900 so idk

price has nothing to really do with it. people just really really reallly need to search more if you want to be real serious about coilovers. a set of custom housings+konis+ground controls will be a softer daily ride than most coilovers out there and can blow them away when you want to toss them around on a track

yeah i didnt say it works well on 240s either. i may not be a noob in cars but im a 240 noob. the spring rates and such from BC may not match the 240 well, who knows.
setting preload correctly, but also setting anything on a coilover isnt straight forward, its kinda an art. thats why shops that have true track experience can truely set it correctly but its not very important for spirited street driving. i would recommend the preload setting where its tight enough where you can barely turn the spring by hand (in the jacked state). then go about another 1/4 turn roughly and preload is set.
