ive been searching around trying to findout which refrigerant the s14 sr20 compressor uses, i was told the KA24DE uses R134a, but the japanese compressor from the SR "might" use R12.
all my lines have been connected and ran properly, it just needs to be recharged. but i dont want to use the wrong refrigerant and blow the compressor, and with the recent heat, i need to see about getting it taken care of.
so i was wondering if anyone that has a s14 sr w/AC has any information regarding what refrigerant they used to recharge their unit
thanks

Any reputable shop can do the refrigerant exchange/change over. I believe the s14 sr used r-134 too. If you need a shop that does it let me know I know one that stands by there work. But must not have a leak.

Belive it or not, I got a a/c in my v-mount setup now. I just had to find a smaller condenser to fit. I did the a/c refrigerant exchange at my old boss's place. But if I was you change all the seals yourself to save time and money on labor if there is a leak. Let me find the shop's name.

you can go from r12 to r134a with no issuses, you will however run into issues if you go the other way around.
if it was r-12 u have to change it ove to r134 anyways. take it to a shop and flsuh the system and put new oil and freon in it

Man...
Easy way to tell if it is R-12
look for the shreadder valve on the Low Pressure hose if it is a threaded fitting its R-12
If it looks like a Quick Disconnect its R-134A
If its R-12 and you want R-134A you need to take it to a shop and have the Seals Changed from the R-12 to the R-134A seal or over time or it will eat the seals and leak out
you'll also need the filter Drier change out with a new one
