View Full Version : redtop SR tran cover plate....

i dont know the best way to explain it but its a plate that covers up the tranny. under neath the block of the motor. its a plate with 2 screws that goes in to cover the flywheel and clutch. im tired of little rocks and water going in. anyone has one that would be great!

it goes behind the flywheel?

goes behind the flywheel. so in front of the bottom block where the trans goes in.

then you got an automatic SR motor...

you need the engine backing plate...

Here is an image of the RB motor... but its the same on the KA and SR how the backing plates work... you see the Manual one in the upper right...

umm i wonder how my sr is an automatic? will i jack my car up and just messing around to see. i just saw that i was missing that cover piece with the two screw. my friend order a blacktop s14 motor and it has the cover plate with the two screws. also my is a manual sr20.

many motors imported were originally in an Automatic...

You can tell by this backing plate being different, or there is a different type of pilot bushing in the crank shaft...
