Anyone have any experience with the new greddy ls spec intercooler kit? Any thoughts or comments about it? How much power does it handle? Is it worth it or should i just get the ebay kit?

according to Phase2's website it says that it's rated for 300-350 hps.
Plus it's on $425 a kit for tube and fin. Really good price.
I'd choose this over ebay.

its just a rebadged or newer version of the spec m intercooler. I would prefer the proven name of greddy over any other ebay intercooler anyday.

Personally I don't have any experience with ebay fmic.
But when I was working at the shop we had people bring them in all the time asking us to install the fmic for them. We always turn them away because the piping is a pain in the ass.
I heard that the type m's piping isn't perfect but is pretty close to perfection.
So it's only a hundred or couple hundred difference, why not just buy the Greddy one that you know are at least going to fit right.
Just my 2 cents.

i have the nw ls greddy intercooler for my s13. bought it from askme4parts on ebay. 415 shipped. It says it is rated for like 350. but i plan on making over 400 with it. it is plenty big enough. it mounted up nice too.
i bought it cause it is greddy, the price was good. and it came with all the hardware.

I don't understand how they do horsepower rating (saying it's rated up to so many horsepower) with intercoolers.

Same way they do ratings for heat sinks for computer chips. The chip takes so much X watts of power so it needs a heat sink with Y heat transfer ability, just like a car makes X horsepower. Its derived using heat transfer equations. Kinda hard to explain if you haven't had thermal fluids classes.

latest may issue of dori ten... has a comparison M spec to LS spec
LS spec has a 15hp power increase just be swapping the core on an s15 between M spec and LS spec
bwahahaha i call BS
they cut the cores in half - shit looks almost identical

Dori Ten is never wrong.
That's like the bible for all things dori.
That's all.

i bought one. i have owned a shitty ebay I/C before for my suby and it took a lot of work for them to route the piping correctly. the Spec LS fit fucking perfect and mounted up really securely. i recommend going with the LS over the ebay FMIC. just my 2 yen

Air to air intercoolers primarily act like thermal reservoirs for 99% of the turbo cars out there. Unless you're at WOT on a track where you're boosting 70+% of a lap, you'll have enough off boost time to cool the thing back down ready to soak up some heat during the next WOT before it really starts dissipating much heat.
It pretty much means that you're not going to see a huge difference from core to core on the dyno except in how it flows internally until the thing heatsoaks and you're trying to cool it down.
