Metal gear solid 1 is the best in terms of gameplay because, well, you actually had to play it. MGS2 kind of let me down due to those lenghty cutscenes (I like to play my games not just watch them) and as far as MGS3 the whole hunting for food thing was a detriment for the gameplay, camo system is fun though

testing ends on the 11th, but the beta code itself expires on the 5th. the beta is alright, nothing spectacular, but they just added another level and different game play modes last night that are pretty cool. it's a lot slower paced than say, call of duty, but still fun.

mgs4 is going to be awesome, can't wait. i still say the first is the best, but i did enjoy mgs2 because of the strange storyline and gameplay.

MGS 1 blew my mind. great game. the gamecube remake (twin snakes) updates the cutscenes. its kinda cool

MGS 2 was a copy of MGS 1. they even tell you that in the game. i know, i recently replayed it in preperation for MGS4

MGS3 was awesome. i enjoyed it due to the twist. im a little slow so it never regestered to me that it was during the Cold War. it's great to be stealthy in these games and no radar

Yea I hope not too. I'm not a big fan of the beta, and now that GTA is out I have no reason to even turn on my PS3 :p

One of my favorite parts of all the Metal Gear games was in MGS2, when you come around that corner and see the shadow of vulcan raven... then it turns out it is a toy in front of a flashlight. One of those nice OH SHIT moments

Metal Gear Solid for the playstation might be my favorite game of all time. definitely top 5. the stealth factor was always a big selling point for me versus a shoot em up type of game. plus there was so many cool things you could do in it that were groundbreaking at the time. also, i love good stories, and the one in that was pretty cool.

to be fair though, i only ever played the 2nd one a few times and unfortunately havent touched 3 or 4.

MGS1 was the best. It was sooo original and just fun as hell to play.

MGS2 was a little monotonous. Whereas MGS1 let you explore different areas, I felt constricted in 2 because everything happened on those stupid platforms that were connected.

MGS3: Most frustrating game ever. I played it for like 30 minutes and gave up. No radar? Are you freaking kidding me? No radar would be cool if it were a 1st person all the time...but I don't have the patience to toggle between 3rd person and 1st person views every 3 seconds to make sure I don't bump into anyone..since I can't see 5 feet in front of me in 3rd person. Lame.

I had to buy a PS3 Just for this game and all I have to say is This Game is Fucking Amazing.
It seems that it has come a long way since MSG for the PS1, like they actually improved the controls for the best. At first it was hard getting used to, but once you get the hang of it they are pretty comfortable.
And the cut scenes and graphics are so Amazing, it reminds me of the time when I first played Sons of Liberty it has that ahhhhh... Factor.
Any who i was up till 5am playing it for 11Hrs straight, so I'll get back to it.

this game is the shit! i couldn't resist, so i went out and bought a ps3 and MGS4 on saturday, ever since then i played at least 5 hours a day. this game just rocks, keeps you planted in front of the tv for ages!

i love this game, everything, from graphics to little details, the flashbacks are sweet, and also some funny moments every once in a while, and how everything from the prequels ties into this... just awesome...just talking about it, i feel the urge to play right now :D

this was definately worth buying a PS3.

yeah, the tranq gun is great. i use that more than anything.

the mk.2 robot is a great tool as well, just hide in a good place, turn the robot invisible and go knock some guys out. makes sneaking easier.

edit: under 5 hours? jesus... impossible with all the cut scenes, haha.

imo the ending was... good, but not spectacular. the liquid battle was cool. going through each game and shit. idk, it just didnt feel as epic as the rest of the game

but besides that... screaming mantis was a cool fight. i just wish it required a little more thinking like psycho mantis did (controler swap, making the controller move, and his memory card reader).

i thought the "beast" bosses were kinda lame compared to previous games. they were out of place imo.

the akima/john and meryl thing was cheesy. i saw it coming since the cutscene in europe when he game her mouth to mouth (though i thought it would be a good time to kill her off at that scene)

anyway, when i get home, i will watch the epilogue and will give you my white opinion on that as well. i started it, but ran out of time.

the collection has solid 1-3, as well as the OG metal gears which Konami put them on the 2nd disk of metal gear solid 3 subsistence.

I just called 2 other gamestops and they are out.. =(

go to gamefaqs.com under 'saves' they have a bunch of different files just make a folder called 'PS3' (i think) and in that a folder called 'SAVEDATA' and finally put the file in that. transfer it all to a usb card and then plug it into your ps3, then go to the save data utility and there is a way to get it on your system.
