clutch slipping

hey wassup everyone
so i did a 5 speed swap on my s14 and eveyrthing runs fine, then the other day my clutch started slipping, its a stage 2 clutch and it started slipping, sometimes it doesnt slip and sometimes it slips out of no where for no reason and doesnt go away for awhile.

i thought it was grease that might of gotten on the clutch or something, but wouldnt that slip all the time? it didnt slip all the time it just happens sometimes so i dunno ..

edit: O and this started happening when i put my 3" exhaust on

you probably fucked something up on or around the slave or the fork etc.... when you put the exhaust on


doesnt sound internal to the transmission


check your clutch fluid, inspect your lines and slave as well as fork and pivot

mayb i grease the fork too much

well, exactly how much grease did you apply?

was this a brand new clutch? was the flywheel resurfaced or new?

you are "supposed" to break a clutch in if it's new, to prevent "glazing"

perhaps you've glazed your clutch...

did you take it easy after the swap? or were you clutch kicking and doing burnouts in parking lots?

^^^thats what im thinking...if you didnt break it properly, itll lead a short life and slip.

You're supposed to break in the clutch for about 500+ miles.

I did with my exedy stage 2. Grabs with the quickness.

Yeah which "Stage 2" do you mean? My Exedy Stg 2 (3 puck, sprung, but very little give) definitely feels like it would slip if I broke it in too fast, or the slave wasn't bled properly - the slightest pressure on the clutch pedal at the engagement point will take it entirely out of engagement. As is, though, it's the perfect clutch for ~ 300whp :)

List whether the clutch was new/used, which "stage 2" it is, and what exactly you did when you installed your 3" exhaust.

i dont see how installing an exhaust would fuck up a clutch... but idk sometimes people do stupid things. did you replace your rear main seal when you swapped in the 5speed? or i should say, did you notice any oil at the back of the engine? and yeah you could have used too much grease on it... but i agree. not enough break in.
