after filling up on e85 gas my cars seems weird. feels like its gonna die leaving it on idle.
this is my first time filling up on E85 since i'm running out of cash for gas. i work 30 miles away from. its killing me on gas.
these are the symtoms.
it felt alrite when i filled my car up. i've notice the gas gauge moves up and down. apparently weird. cause it didnt do that.
i know for a fact my car feels sluggish sort slow.
idle is not on 1.5 on the rpm. it sits between from 1k-.5k

Did you buy bigger injectors and get tuned for it??? You cant just go fill up with E-85.

You can't just fill up on E85 and expect your car to run. It's a different fuel with different properties than straight gasoline. Didn't you at least research it a little?
It requires a whole different fuel (and preferably ignition) map.

yeah, your tune won't work on e85.
i hope you didn't get a whole tank if you're not tuned for it.

i forgot to add this is on my sohc KA. as a temperary solution cause i ran out of cash for gas.
its filled up half way
btw i wasnt thinking when i was filling up gas cause i'm was in the middle of nowhere close to home and my tank was empty.
You do realize it costs about the same amount to go a mile on E85 as it does for regular 87 - ethanol has less energy content per gallon.
Fill up the rest of the tank with 87 and it should run ok enough to get through the tank and fill up with 87.

Your gas mileage with E85 is gonna be significantly less than with gasoline, so in the end you are better off staying with proven gas than E85. You lose power too...

If your car isn't designed for E85, the seals are going to go bad too.
Rubber and Gas = :)
Rubber and Alcohol = :(

I loose MAD torque with regular fuel with E85 10% mix on my RB, i cna' imagine what running this shit straight would be like.

Flush that e85 out and fill it with regular gas. There really isnt any way around it. Even if you fill the rest of the way with regular gas, it will still run like crap. E85 is 85 percent ethanol and 15 percent gasoline. So in theory if you add another 1/2 tank of gasoline, that is still about 40 percent ethanol in the tank. Your fuel map wont handle it.

whats your setup?
if you have an adjustable fpr, bump up the base pressure from 43.5psi to 73 psi and it should run okay.
Or if you have a standalone, increase the global fuel constant by 30%.
But yeah... you're running lean and need to fix it. That was a stupid thing to do.

You run the risk of running to lean and detonation when you put E85 in a car thats tuned for regular gas. You require around 30-40% more fuel on E85.
My Jeep runs better and gets better MPG when I put E10 in it....

your not supposed to just go fill up E85 and drive around...of course your having issues... if you have a sr20... you should first get a tune.
i dont know how much boost your running but on evo's you would go from 21lbs boost on 91 to like 32lbs or so...on e85. thats where you see the improvements. if your N/A then you should get a e85 map as a back up so you can switch to it if you want to run it. also your gonna need bigger injectors and such.
im sure e85 sucks if you just put it in your car and drive off but if you are setup for e85 you will kick the shit out of anyone with similar mods on 91 or 93

exactly... u need a different tunning for it.. also e85 i thing needs different fuel lines and other things , i heard it eats regular plastic , not sure about that
guys it's not gonna eat through his hoses seals right away
drain the tank and fill-up with real gasoline
you need bigger injectors and a tune to properly run E85, which wouldn't be worth it on a single-cam KA.
mistakes happen

my car was tuned for 94 oct ive been putting 91 shell and my was running okay but sluggish a bit I started to put 94 oct and my car runs amazing so smooth and when I boost it higher it so smooth throughout the rpm range and at like 140kms it runs so smooth.

I really like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, but I've been using strawberry jelly and it's been okay... but I started using grape jelly it's tastes so much better it's amazing!
do you see my point?
