Andrew Bohan
04-23-2008, 12:49 AM
calling or going around to businesses in your area and selling them stickers for their storefronts, or banners, or stickers for truck doors and trailers, or whatever else you can think of.

and going to track days and seeing what the racers need.

etc etc

i'm still working out the details on percentages. it has to be high enough to make it worth your time, and low enough to make it worth my time :)

and there will be the possibility to increase if you're really good at it.

Well I'm young. That may not be what you're looking for.

However, I really need a job and this sounds like something I could definitely do. Plus there are a lot of track days near me.

Pm me if you want to talk I guess.

LMK for sure when you figure out the startup costs and pay...will this be a "part time" or "full time" commitment? im in the process of interviewing for a few jobs and wouldnt mind a "on the side" dealie...dont mind weekends, meets, or track events either...SERIOUS and ready yesterday...

Andrew Bohan

no mininum time commitment

sell as little or as much as you want, and your income will reflect that.

sell one sticker to your mom per year, fine

go get us the comcast van contract, and we're all billionaires. haha

Andrew Bohan

a commissions based job like this is usually done "independent contractor" status

meaning you're not my employee, and at at tax time you file a 1099 (if you want)

you're supposed to, but it doesn't matter to me at all.

there are also people like me in the real world

and people like slidin_W.O.P and karl wasabi too

guess what. everyone is also a person in the real world. amazing.

but anyway, here's a rundown of what happens.

this is loosely based on the real estate model i worked in for some time.

the salesperson calls or visits potential customers. these would mostly be businesses.
hit up any place that might need vinyl. stores, restaurants, and other kinds of places need it in their windows. any place that has work vans, delivery trucks, or other kinds of vehicles needs vinyl on their vehicles. keep your eyes peeled and you see vinyl where you wouldn't ordinarily expect it too.
ask to talk to the owner or manager or someone else high up.
tell them who you are and what you're selling and what the advantages are of having it, as well as the disadvantages of not having it.
if they don't want it, move on to the next place.
if they do want it, go over with them what's possible and what's not, and what fits in their budget.
once you decide on something, figure out the cost. i'll provide a pricing calculator.
if they go for it, then send me the money and the order and i'll send out the vinyl and your commission check.

that's a rough draft plan. it has some details that need to be worked out

Sounds cool, but who will apply the vinyl? I am assuming this is one of the details needed to be worked out?

Andrew Bohan

k here's what i'm gonna do

i'm gonna start this thing locally, so i can actually meet you guys, then once the system gets rolling good i'll hit up sac and socal, cuz i can still go to those places easily. that will test out the midrange distance

then i'll go for the cities too far away to go visit a lot and see how it works when i don't get to meet anyone.

so you guys in the bay area pm me so we can set up times to get together.
i'd like to have a couple guys at a time.
