when i got my car the windshield on my hatch was all fkd up. like the tint is clear which is totally random and peeling in random spots. i used a flat head to try to scrape it off and some comes off but its scratching my windshield.
any ideas of any quick ways to scrape all of it off safely?
heres some pics, thanks guys.

Simple Green, a razor blade, and a heat gun. but watch out for the redish-orangeish horizontal lines. those are the defrost elements, break them and they dont work anymore. i only point that out in case someone wants to keep that function

Its a bitch.
There are tools that tint shops use to remove tint, try checking with a local one to see if you can buy/borrow one.
Otherwise razorblade, heat gun, and a shit ton of wasted time.
No matter what youre going to ruin your defroster, so dont even worry about trying to salvage that.

very time consuming...my friend has the same problem on his hatch...and he ended up buying another hatch off of another 240 instead...

I'd just get another hatch... Or at least new glass. Or just shave the defroster off if you don't ever need it.

Stop being lazy people, saying to buy a new hatch! And let this go to waste?? Like ^^ said Simple Green, a razor blade and some fucking elbow grease! Yeah it takes time, but f&ck it, I'd rather have my hatch look clean than shitty! :D

I live in a colder climate and need to keep the defrost, even in my fun car... So My only option was to swap the glass from my hatch with a spare hatch I had bought. On the other windows I used a razor blade and lots of time. The roll downs I pulled out and put paint and decal remover on them and it came right off.

I had the same problem with my hatch, I just peeled it away by hand and used carb cleaner to remove the residue. It worked pretty well, and I don't think I damaged the defroster.

Just use a heat gun and it comes off like nothing. Make sure you get it really hot though and take your time(peel it it off slowly while still adding heat). I did my friends with out messing up the defroster.

The easy way that really seems to work for my shop is to take windex (or simple green something with amonia) spray a shit load on the window then take a black plastic bag or a couple of them and tape them to the hatch. Park your car in some sun, let it bake for a hour or so. Then once it's nice and hot it will peel off pretty easily. it's time consuming, but it works. The other way (since the previous method took to much time for our shop) is a steamer. Essentially works the same as the other method just it is faster. good luck.

when I took the tint off of my hatch for state inspection, mine just peeled off. I used a razor to get it started, but for the most part, it just came off. The adhesive was left in some spots. Goo Gone took care of that stuff though.
