After idling for approx. 5 minutes, the number one coil is letting out the magic smoke. I replaced it with a new unit for Q45, happened again.
What would be causing this?
Thanks is advance!

It sounds like a wiring issue. so you need to fix your harness or it's going to fry every coilpack you try

sounds like your ignition signal for cylinder 1 is getting a constant ground instead of the pulse from your ecu. it could be the ignitor but most likely is in the coil pack sub harness. make sure you didn't ground the "timing loop" to the chassis. that's the signal wire for cylidner 1 heh

+1 on bad wiring, that is a quick way to make coilpacks go bad.

Ok. As stated, it was the signal wire to the number 1, which splits to a sub harness on the coil harness.
I don't know why its grounding out, but it is somewhere.

and that's why your coil pack is burning up.
i don't feel like typing a page telling you how to check it so gimme a call at the shop tomorrow when you're next to your car and have your tools in the other hand and i'll tell you what to do.
