I'm installing a ACT Extreme Pressure plate and 6 puck clutch disc.
This bearing doesn't look like the stock bearing I removed. Its a bit smaller, and a bit thinner, but not by much. Its also a little different "build". Like the old bearing, only one side of the bearing spun. This one, the entire center piece spins. Anyways. I haven't installed it yet because I was worried I would put it in wrong and have to pull the transmission all out again.
Which side goes towards the motor? Both sides are close to the same, I'm just not 100% sure and ACT doesn't have any information. Here are some pictures of how it is installed right now, let me know if they look right or I need to flip it over (or just throw it away and get an OEM one):

As you can see, I put the part where the bearing is "sealed together" at the rear.

flip it around.... you have it on backwards. The part that spins goes towards the pressure plate.

The entire OUTSIDE of the bearing spins and the center piece that the carrier goes into stays stationary. Its not like the stock one that only spins on one side. The entire outside of the bearing spins, front, back, and side.

I'd love to put my car back together, anyone have any ideas? Please read my replies also. Just to clear up what exactly the bearing looks like.

Its hard to tell what each side looks like from your pictures. If you can get a picture with just the bearing and a picture of it on both sides, I can probably help more.
What is confusing is from pic 1 to 2 the bearing looks like it is on 2 different sides. Hard to tell
Also, the side of the bearing that is more rounded should go towards the pressure plate.

its on backwards.
the tapered side (as mentioned above) faces out, towards the PP.... opposite from how you have it.

also another way I can tell its on backwards is that the lettering on the bearing should face away from the engine. Looks like an NSK bearing. My sr had a koyo bearing and it faced away. But basically the side with the rounded lip or face is the side that contacts the pressure plate

Yeah. I had already flipped it over since I took the pictures. I just didn't want to put it all back together and have something not work. Transmissions are a complete pain in the ass to pull when the motor is in the car, and as of right now. It isn't.
Appreciate the replies. And thanks for not "Go search"ing me. I had searched, but couldn't find any pictures of someone installing the same type of bearing.
On other news. Got the rest of the clutch installed (Torquing down flywheels by yourself isn't the easiest of tasks when the motor is dangling from a lift). Should have the motor back in the car by this weekend, which just happens to be my 25th B-day. Woot!

I would reccomend running an OEM bearing. All my friends that run the ACT TOB have problems with them. My friend with a Spec-V had his explode and it hasnt been there for even a year (it literally exploded and tore up his clutch and flywheel).
Also my friend with a B20 Turbo makes a lot of noise, as does the one in my friends basically stock LS.
Good luck and happy bday :)

ACT doesnt make their own TOB. Basically all aftermarket clutches use the same brand bearings. The stock TOB I pulled out of my sr was a koyo. The TOB that came with my exedy clutch was a NSK. No problems with it yet and its been about a year and a half.
I cant say for sure but if your friends are having problems with their TOB, its most likely due to the clutch itself or installation problems. Nissan may have used koyo bearings before but all OEMs switch thier suppliers all the time. NSK may be the oem suppliers now.

Actually, I have my concerns about the NSK bearing that came with the ACT clutch, but it looks a lot more durable than the OEM one. I've read a lot of opinions about the bearing and it seems to be a 50/50 split. Some people say its great, others say it seizes/blow up.
I think I'll go ahead and run it for now. I don't drive the car that hard, and I don't do a lot of drifting, so I think it won't see the abuse a lot of you guys are putting some through.
