I've always been a big fan of the originals. I prefer them over the newer movies. I just love the whole story and Lucas' genius.

When the last movie came out I was happy and kinda bummed at the same time that the story was over.

Luckily for fans like myself, there is a lot on the horizon.

There's Star Wars: The Clone Wars (2008) which is a CG movie coming to theaters, obviously taking place during the Clone Wars. Some time after the movie comes out, this will be continued into a regular TV movie. IGN has covered it a lot: link here (http://tv.ign.com/objects/826/826173.html)

Then there is the live action TV series that is coming. Speilberg says: "It's not that episodic," adding, "Some of the episodes are stand-alone and some are two, some are three, some are four [parters], and there's no cliffhangers. It's not like the current vogue of 24 and The Wire and stuff where you actually have to watch the entire series in order to understand what's going on. This is an old-fashioned episodic show." That is not scheduled to hit until 2010.

Last there's Star Wars: The Force Unleashed video game. Here's a link (http://xbox360.ign.com/objects/823/823667.html) to some info on IGN also. I'm looking forward to this mostly because of the use of Natural Motions AI that is also featured in GTA4.

Premise: his entry in the Star Wars saga casts players as Darth Vader's "Secret Apprentice", unveiling new revelations about the Star Wars galaxy. The expansive story, created under direction from George Lucas, is set during the largely unexplored era between Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith and Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope. In it, players will assist the iconic villain in his quest to rid the universe of Jedi - and face decisions that could change the course of their destiny. As its name implies, The Force Unleashed completely re-imagines the scope and scale of the Force by taking full advantage of newly developed technologies that will be seen and experienced for the first time anywhere in videogaming.

Man, if I wasn't such a stereotypical American citizen, I'd read all the books. I wish I were alive when the original trilogy came out in theatres, because I loved those movies! When the prequel trilogy came out, it wasn't that awesome (Jar Jar killed it for me) although "Revenge of the Sith" was great because of the battles and closure it provided.

So will Clone Wars ('08) be the same as the Clone Wars animated toon released before "Attack of the Clones"?

I always thought Boba Fett was badass.

Originally, Star Wars was intended to be a 9 part story, not a 6 part story.

Lucas said midway through the prequel trilogy that he no longer intended to make the final 3 movies....but who knows. A few billion dollars can change minds.

Info:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Wars_sequel_trilogy

I seem to recall Lucas mentioning the possibility of a sequel trilogy in one of the interviews on the original VHS THX remastered trilogy (i.e. before the "special editions" with the added effects).

I know. I recall he said he thinks he would be too old to finish all three.

But, when the last three came out no one knew anything about a TV series or a CG movie, so who knows.

I would LOVE to see three more movies.

This thread rules. I enjoyed all the movies to some extent.

I don't know why, but I've been watching the movies on spike for the last 3 weekends religiously since they started. Now it's Star Wars Sundays!?

I'm also looking forward to The Force Unleashed, but then again it might be just hype.

So far my favorite Jedi based game was Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast.

I also enjoyed Republic Commando and the Battlefront games.

i bet he already made them, but they wont be released till he needs the money to keep his walt disney inspired cryogenic-crypt plugged into the wall. he'll have robots deliver the movies to someone the *BAM* witchcraft happens and we have 3 new movies to go watch

edit: lego star wars is where its at btw. imma go pick up a copy today maybe.

I admit, I'm a closet Star Wars geek.
I love the design used in it, most of the designers went to my school and shared my major.

I've read a lot of the books, own a lot of the games, and have a closet back home filled with star wars toys.

But I'm mostly just interested in the vehicle and droid designs.

Time for me to show the dork side.

Early Sandcrawler:

I don't want to come off as a dork.

But I will admit that I love Star Wars.

I love it well enough that when I play Star Wars questioning games I'm right about 70% of the time. Not bad I would say.

It's not religious for me, but I really do enjoy just taking a day off and watching as many episodes as I can.

It's really Star Wars and Firefly for me. Anything else remotely sci-fi I have no interest.

Yo EXITSPEED

My biggest worries about anymore star wars being done is that Lucas is a horriable director when it comes to actors.

Lucas can write, knows what he wants to see. But when it comes to actors. "faster and More intense" isnt gonna cut it. We saw this with alot of the people in the newer star wars movie.

His inability to say no to cutting edge film technology.

We saw a perfect example if this in the 2nd movie. (or was it 3rd?) When there is the romantic scene between darth vader and his babe. It was done on a green screen stage without the other actor being there most of the time. So the actors where looking at a piece of tape somewhere off camera and saying there lines. no wonder you felt no "love connection" between the 2.

Or just the overly CG distractions that the movies became.

And societys change it what they want from a story.

My girlfriend deals with this change alot. even at ZILVIA you guys are dealing with it alot. My girlfriend does video game marketing at Disney and they get LOTs of info on this all the time and have meetings about it.

Its the teenage/preteen generations problem with instant gratification. and its not a parenting issue. People arent used to waitning anymore. I want something, I google it, I tivo it, I order it over night from Amazon, I order pizza online, I want it cooked now, I microwave it, etc

So as you can tell from watching older movies, where they are story driven, and characters carry it. Todays movies have stupid stories, flashy/cheesy characters and lots of special effects and action to keep the audience interested.

Think about the first 3 star wars stories compared to how complex and character driven the original 3 were.

i just done think Lucas has succesfully made that transition, sadly.

And I'm not picking on the man, there are a few more like him. look at Zimmeckis, Even Ron Howard is struggling a little.

But I have read over 20 of the books, played the RPG, watched Droids the carntoon, downloaded the music, love Endor Adventure, have the trivia in storage back home, been luke from return of the jedi for halloween, ordered posters and lobby cards, have the box set, watcyhed episode 1 in the theaters 12 times despite Jar Jar.

Just a little disapointed with the latest movies.

I'm with yuri, I always loved the aesthetics and the designs of the star wars movies. I've always loved the movies, but that's about the extent of the depth of my interest. Haven't ever read any books, comics, watched any shows, collected any toys. I have played a few of the games and generally have been disappointed by them.

My issue with Episodes I-III (besides the acting) was that they seemed to be written with the video game in mind. There are whole sections of action that look like they pulled straight from video games, which strikes me as a little cheesy.

LOL

This site just screams "Bullshit" to me.

I mean, look at this info:

Star Wars Episode 7 vii
Full Movie Title: Star Wars Episode 7 - The Hidden Circle
Theatrical Release Date: 20 May 2021

c'mon.....2021, and they have an EXACT RELEASE DATE?!?!? I don't think so, I think this is a lot of conjecture.

I DO expect someone to make these films eventually and I don't expect it to be for a very long time, so 2021 might be realistic....but I'm sure all Lucas has for them is rough sketches and I'm certain that he won't make them himself. There's too much money in it for them to not EVER get made though, IMO.

Still a fun site to look at though, just for laughs.

Here's a crazy true Jedi story.

I the power of The Force once when I was younger. No lie.

I was about 17 I think and break dancing was my life. At the time one of the most difficult moves was a Flair. Air Flares and shit weren't even thought of at this time. Hardly anyone could do real ill flares at this time. if they did their legs were all bent, and they were not high or they tucked their legs in on the second half of the move.

So anyway, I'd been practicing them for like 3 weeks straight. No stop and I just could NOT make a full revolution to save my life. I had the first part down real well though.

One night, I popped in Return of the Jedi. For some reason the part of the movie with Yoda really got to me. I started thinking about the movements of a flare and concentrating. I pushed the table and couch away, stretched for a min.

On my FIRST attempt I made one full revolution effortlessly and almost a second! It was the Force! I swear. I felt it!

A couple weeks later I had some of the highest, smoothest, most straight legged flares we'd all seen.

Here's a vid of what a flare is for reference. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fX1IR7IM_M&feature=related

star wars rocks. but lucas is a dumbass. the original trilogy became a classic through luck and the suggestions of people around lucas. alot of evidence points to the fact that the main plot point (i.e. vader being anakin / luke's father) was not part of lucas's original vision for star wars. seeing his work on ep 1-3 just proves it. he really has no idea how to tie a trilogy together, at least not on his own.

as for games... i started playing way back in the day. x-wing and tie fighter were my favorite games when i was like 12 years old. i stopped playing as the quality of the games dropped. favorite game ever is a toss up between tie fighter collection and the first knights of the old republic.

Is the maker of this site crazy? or will another trilogy actually happen?????

ive read several of the books that continue the story and tell the tale of han solos sons. and some of the graphic novels that show how the republic was born and the first sith lords. awesome stuff.

there's so much fan stories and books. making a movie should be no issue. its just lucas is weird and prob wont. thats what i dont understand. the fan base is so large, and we would all go see it with out hesitation.

I've been a star wars fan since I was like 4 years old. My mom told me I would watch Return of the Jedi over and over and over. She was so sick of it lol.

If you guys want to get into the books, I'd start with the Thrawn trilogy (http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Heir_to_the_empire).

I was reading the New Jedi Order books, but never finished the series. I read up on what I missed on wookiepedia and it seems like they ran out of ideas (Jacen Solo going to the dark side, etc etc)

This was probably my favorite toy of my entire childhood.

Didn't the first StarWars have a super low budget and Lucas caught a lot of crap for it while making it?

I was watching some documentary about StarWars a few weeks ago and it said something along those lines.

What they should have done for the new trilogy movies (I, II, III) and need to do for the new one is give him a super low budget again. Looks like he had too much money on the new ones and went nuts with crazy CG and all that lame stuff.
Force him to actually make the movies good instead of just saying "heres some money, add some CG to make it better."

On that note, I love StarWars. I bought the newest movies and watched them a lot. Lame or not, it's still StarWars and awesome.

I always wondered what it would be like to live on a place like Coruscant.

All the planets in the SW universe are interesting but there's something about a planet covered entirely by cityscape that intrigues me.

Question for you Zilvians:
What kinda job or life do you think you'd lead if you were in it?

If I lived on a shitty planet I'd probably join the Empire and become a stormtrooper. If that didn't work out I'd probably work as a smuggler/mercenary.

Better yet, a bounty hunter heh.

To be honest, I think I would be a Storm Trooper or an Imperial Officer as well considering that the Empire is pretty much the old republic and all...

Otherwise, I'd set out to be the best breakdancer in the world and get money/bitches/respect.

I would LOVE to see the New republic on the Big screen, A movie perhaps based off the "Jedi Knight series" Following Katarn and his rise to jedi dom, as well as Lukes reconstruction of the jedi order.

Depends on the time period.
If it were after the Empire, I'd be a designer for either Incom or Corellian Engineering, and own a sweet vintage Z95 Headhunter as a daily.
This thread makes me feel like a dork.

I led the life of a Bounty Hunter in SWG. Master Rifleman, Master Bounty Hunter, and Pistols 0/4/0/4. I was a Rebel only because I had to chose a side to become force sensitive. Anyways, 6 months of playing straight and it was all for nothing because Sony decided to make it more "kid friendly"

How to turn the Star Wars franchise into instant win?

Take the Zahn Thrawn books. Let Peter Jackson make the movies.

Take the Michael A Stackpole "X-Wing" series. Let Brian K. Vaughn and Joss Whedon write the TV series.

Done.
Win.

Other than the Eps 4-6, the Thrawn books, and the X-wing series, everything else has been utter crap.

Star Wars is dope, the technical design is just amazing. I really loved the first 3 movies, and I really liked episode one from there. But it fell off from there for me. Star Wars games were my favorite but seriously the amount of shitty ones they need to make to get a good one was ridiculous. Jedi Knight was the shit!

here's my take.

at one point, george lucas was on his game. he made THX 1138. He made American Graffiti. he made the first two Star Wars movies. New Hope was a classic, and Empire was amazing.
in 1981, he'd be a part of one last good movie (with the exception of Last Crusade): Raiders of the Lost Ark.

but then, in 1981, george lucas adopted his first kid.

and you know what his next three movies were? Jedi, which, had it not tied into the other two original movies, would have been fucking bear muppets dancing around in a goddamn forest. Temple of Doom, the worst, by far and wide, of the first three Indy movies. and Caravan of Courage: An Ewok Adventure. MORE FUCKING MUPPETS. oh, and right after that, another Ewok movie.

everything since has been all about putting a twinkle in little kids' eyes and wishing on fairy dust and whatever other faggot shit was poured into lucas' head when he got that kid. it ruined him. his wife ditched him in 1983, when he put out his first fagged-out film, Jedi. she did the right thing.

I love the movies, the toys and the games. we can theme our cars around it our lives around it and it continues to give. i love SW and all the memories it brought me. Childhood lightsaber battles, and pretending to be battling the empire on Hoth when it snowed. and now Bioware is finally about to release The Old Republic. also known as SWTOR, and i am so stoked. I nerd out on the forums and always look forward to the updates. I've never played an MMO thoroughly, but this is the exception. ahhh i am so excited.

i think the opposite. if there was gore and adult language it wouldnt be PG13 or whatever it was and i wouldnt have been able to watch it as a kid. plus i think han solo cussing up a storm would have been out of place
