hey everyone i dont know if you guys have read my other tread, the story about someone who decided to throw a piece of concrete the size of my head into my rear windsheild on my driveway at 5:00am . . .
. . . well yea anyways so i was driving back to work from a lunch break im driving down a hill at speed limit and i see that im approching a red light so as i slow down the light turns green. i see an armada infront of me and another big suv type car on the other straight lane so im still slowing down. it starts going like any car would at a green light. as i approch the armada ALL OF SUDDEN IT SLAMS ON ITS BREAKS!!!! not only that THE OTHER CAR DOES THE SAME DAMN THING!!!!! so with no other choice i did the same thing . . . and then boom . . . the front of my car is tucked under the armada in the middle of the intersection at a green light and the other SUV takes off . . . . :wtc: . . . .
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v161/ek9jtuned/PC160592.jpg
i told the cops everything that happend and he was being such a dick to me and didnt listen cause im younger and the other driver is a mom . . . not only did that happen the cops gave me a tick for going "unsafe speed" reason being i couldnt stop in time. :tweak: lkajsdfkljasdiof BULLSHIT!!
well this happened a little bit ago. the only damage on the armada was couple scratches on her rear bumper and the armada owner claimed that i turned her engine light on and she needs me to pay for her rent a car . . . i was so sick of bullshit i told my insurance company that this was a straight up SCAMMMMMMM!!!!!! . . . and then for some odd reason she decides not to claim anything on me . . . hmmm i wonder.
so end of story i didnt have to pay for her car . . . i have to pay for my damage, ticket and traffic school . . . . for some reason . . . it sounds like i still got raped up the ass.

well when you rear end someone it is ALWAYS your fault.
still sucks though.
did the driver say why they both stopped?
if anything the whole accident could have been a scam, they both could have been in on it, that shit happens.

well when you rear end someone it is ALWAYS your fault. :werd:
Sorry man hate to break it to you but the cop is right. Stop trying to think you're right, cuz you're not. Trust me you WILL NEVER win this incident in court. It sucks, but there is NO EXCUSE for blaming the person in front of you to brake when YOU didn't expect them to. Imagine if you were in their position, would you think it would be your fault if someone rear ended you? I think not.
You should always expect the person in front of you to press on their brakes at anytime because ANYTHING can happen. This is why they teach you when get your license the 3+ second rule. If you can't react fast enough to not hit them, then you're too close.
Before you start telling your insurance company they're a scammer, atleast have some solid proof that they're full of BS. I don't know if they specifically knew what they were talking about when they said their CEL went off, but yes hitting a car's rear end can cause sensor malfunctions from ABS, to Airbag malfunction.
Hope you learn from this incident and you get your car back up and running.

yea it always is the rearenders fault butt in the rear end of the nissan armada there are no sensors in the back to set off a check engine light, i even called cerritos nissan and talked to the master tech and he said i was right. so i used that information to tell the insurance company that this was a scam. both cars in both lanes stopped at the same time at a green light. yea i guess i was following too close so it is kinda my fault.
if you guys read up there in my post. the lady droped the CEL claim on me after i said it was a scam.

FYI.....a rear end collision CAN set off a Check Engine Light on a newer model car...ie...97 model year & above.
California in it's infinite wisdom has tightened up the Emissions law so that newer model cars can no longer vent fuel vapor from the gas tank into the environment. What that means is there are more sensors monitoring the fuel lines...Don't believe me?? Compare a 95 S14 fuel system to a 97. A 95's will have a carbon canister towards the front of the car on the driver side by the radiator support while the 97 won't. You'll have some sensors on a 97 by the front passenger shock tower & a boatload of sensors by the back gas tank / fuel filler spout.
If by some chance you cut, (or disconnect), a fuel or vapor line by the gas tank, the gas tank will no longer be able to hold pressure, (why do you think they test gas caps during smog checks nowadays?? A bad gas cap won't hold pressure & will vent fuel vapors to the environment - even a loose vent line on the gas filler neck can cause a CEL also). As a result, the Check Engine Light will trip because it's not reading the expected sensor readings.
When you rear ended the lady's Armada, its possible the rear emergency spare tire underneath her floor board could have cut, (or pinched), a fuel vapor line or bumped up against one of her sensors tripping her Check Engine Light.
The only way to know for sure what tripped the Check Engine Light is to hook her car up to a Nissan CONSULT / or Diagnostic Trouble Code Reader & see what code her Armada stored in its memory. That's about the only way to know for sure what caused her Check Engine Light to come on.
Anyhow, it is possible for the Check Engine Light to reset after only one trip. You'll have to check your Factory Service Repair Manul for further details.

PS:
My compliments on tackling the front end repair. How did you get the damaged portion off?? Sawzall?? How much did the welder run you?? What's it rating?? 125V or 220V?? And how difficult was it to weld the new front end on?? ....cuz I'm interested in learning how to use a welder to repair car stuff. Oxy-Acetylene is good for cutting but takes a little more skill to weld than Mig

idlafie took the words out of my mouth. But, the canister is at the rear of the car on '96 240's as well, not just hte '97-newer cars. Its an OBDII thing.
Post pics of the Kouki front when done. I think it's a good thing, a Kouki face upgrade. Slap paint and a new rear window and you're good to go.

TogueLabs sorry non of the front end parts are useable. all the tabs on the lights broke off.
idlafie i had no idea about any of that. but going 7mph when hitting the towhook and bearly kissed the rear bumper i dont think i did anything to her car. haha. oh well she dropped the claim after that so i dont know if i really did or she was bsing me.
i think the hardest part of taking off the damaged parts was the hood . . . that thing was stuck on there i just yanked it off . . . and it broke the latch with it. and as for repairing the core support. the core support is only spot welded from factory. so i just drilled where the spot welds were. took a fatty flat head and a hammer. pryed it out. put on the new core support and then spot welded it back on but with more points so its stronger than how it was before. i just went to homedepot and rented the welder. it wasnt more than 60bucks for 2 hours? plus wire. wasnt hard at all. sorry forgot the rating on it though

i wont say whether i believe you are at fault or not but that sounds like a scam. people are always messing with insurance and it sounds like you found a perfect example. the other SUV stopped to keep you from dodging into the other lane. another way people do this is the same situation but instead of a second car they have a guy on the sidewalk that yells at you then the car in front slams on their brakes. you arent looking, cause an accident, bystander is suddenly gone, and you are jacked with an accident thats "your fault".
