I dissasembled my Z32 rear brakes recently and noticed I was missing a rubber seal from the caliper, inside. I must have lost it or w/e:smash:, but I went to the west covina nissan, and they couldn't get the part seperatly so I want to see what I could do to get a hold of this part. Here's the pics to show what I'm talking about.

The first pic has the seal, the second one shows it missing.

holy crap, i'd be way to scared to disassemble them. i had enough trouble rebuilding them.

i'd really start looking high and low for various sized rubber orings, or rings with an edge. go to a parts store and ask them to look at their o rings or rubber seals.

They don't sell those o-rings seperately. Gonna have to find a suitable sized replacement.

lol Yea, vector space stuff in the back

Well I looked on mcmaster carr's site and they sell some of these that are VERY similar to the dimensions I got off the OEM. But the ones off Mcmaster were like .02" larger then the OEM. I guess I'll have to gamble it and get them.

reading some rebuilding articles for z32 cause I might have to do mine in the future and came across this

http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=215854

Put small 'O' rings between 2 halves. Okay, here's the deal. These small 'O' rings were not included in the kit. I saw someone bought them from ACE Hardware store though. I just reused old ones. They seemed to be okay. You need to lubricate all the rubber parts.

that part was after he powerdercoated. hope you find it!

I found a vendor on eBay I believe who was selling z32 brake rebuild kits. In his kit those o-rings were included (didn't use them because I didn't feel like splitting the calipers) he even mentioned that you can not purchase them separately.

Just try sending messages to any 'vendor' that sells seal rebuild kits for z32 calipers and ask if they have those.

^^^What he said. According to this guy on FA, link --> http://forums.freshalloy.com/showthread.php?t=154473&highlight=caliper+oring
, it works. For those that doesn't want to read the whole thing, the part number from McMaster Carr is
AS568A Dash Number - 108
. You'll just have to buy a whole 50 of it.

Hell I'll buy 50, might as well sell a few to others or something. Or find some local people that need them. Thanks

Been looking for these for like the longest time already. I've tried using the o-rings for the RX7 FC four pots, same dimensions but besides thickness. This will finally do, thank you.

if you want you can go to rockauto.com and look for the rebuild kit or just the o-ring for whatever year the z32 brake came off of.

Exactly. Like mentioned above, the o-rings are NOT AVAILABLE through the dealer. Period. Never were either.

Apparently the guy on FA had no issues with the o-rings from mcmaster after a, I believe 4 or 5 month update. So its worth the shot. I guess I'll post up how they fit by tuesday since thats when my rings should come in.

goto an auto parts store and ask them to see their o-rings. If its a good auto store they will have a shit load. Just get one that fits. You could also ask them for the AC system o-rings if you are scared to use the generic rubber ones. The ones for AV systems are made of neoprene

I don't think you'd want to use the regular rubber one from Autozone, those rings I mentioned are made of Viton. IIRC the brake fluid will just eat through the regular rubber.

you could order a remanufactured one and turn urs back in as the core... it will be all rebuilt with pads and new seals.

Well I got the ones from mcmaster in today, but then tried putting them in mine and the o-rings were too small, then I realized the guy on FA was using the front calipers, so I might have to order some more for the rear. I guess their different sizes.

It's not just size :) make sure it's temperature and chemical resistant too.

There was a post somewhere with a source for these, maybe from McMaster-Carr I think.

You really aren't supposed to take them apart. Sometimes they don't go back together right. That said I have yet to hear anyone with a problem getting them back together and sealed right.

I have heard a ton of people losing their O-Rings though.

So I went back to Mcmaster Carr and found an o-ring size that fits pretty dam good. The inside diameter is a little large, but I think when I put the 2 calipers together, it should compress it enough to fill it up more. The outside diameter went in perfect. Incase anyone needs it in the future, here's the part number I got 9464K19 Viton O-Ring AS568A Dash Number 014. Or you could paypal me 2.75$ + paypal fee and I'll send you a pack of 4.
