Quick question. Why does my friend have to order an 89-90 throwout bearing for his 92 240sx? The ones they give him for the KA24DE are different (larger diameter) than his. He's rockin a DE, so why does he have a KA24E throwout?

There's a difference? Didn't know that. I figure it wouldn't matter which one he used seeing as the transmission is the same throughout the years. Why doesn't he just run the one they gave him?

He had me bring his sleeve and bearing to work with me one day to try and press the old one out and the new one in on my lunch break... and his old bearing literally fell apart and I had nothing to push against but the inner race, which doesn't have enough lip to grab onto...

i've seen this a couple of times.. not sure why it happens. Its sort of a crap shoot with "parts store" throwout bearing. I had to go through 3 different TOB from Autozone before i matched it up with the one that came out.

Went to the stealership and got the same situation going. Actually, I'm friends with the guy at the parts counter, so I get wholesale prices lol. It was cheaper than a parts store!
Oh and $4 OEM oil filters FTW.
