Conversion?

Remove SOHC cluster.
Install DOHC cluster.

There's nothing else to it.

well I have also heard of guys wiring signal from coil directly to tach of sohc..works fine...
you need to solder a couple wires to back of cluster...on a couple of pins...I read it on a diff forum, that has info and not just neg rep. :o

good luck. either way.
the easiest is forsure swap out for a dohc tach...cheapest is solder.

You can swap the whole cluster. Or, just swap the tach(remove via screws in the back.) from clutster to cluster.

from what i've read online and i am also doing on my s13 right now
1. find the tam wire behind the cluster (yellow w/ red stripe)
2. run a wire from the tam to the engine bay near the ignition coil
3. cut or strip the coil positive wire and attach

now here's the part im stuck on...... i can't tell which is the positive wire on the ignition coil :(

I have done the swap. I have a bunch of SOHC digital clusters so I ran a tach driver wire to the cluster and it works perfect.
I did a write up on it , but it is in the preemie section. This is the one I tested as the positive.
