I have NO idea what are good wireless cards for laptops... i think my internal one is going out... it doesnt want to connect anymore like it used to.. so i just wanna get a wireless card so i dont have to worry about the crappy internal shit anymore...

does anyone know of a good brand i should look at? and ones i should stay away from?

Thanks,

google "usb aircard"

aircards are handy, you can get a connection anywhere.

i have a usb model on the way and i think verizon is having a special on their aircard service 30 something a month is a good price. and they have the usb model as well, so bonus.

I'm actually on my verizon pc5750 right now. I get great reception everywhere. The only problem I have is with the vzaccessmanager which is the program needed to connect. Sometimes that freezes and the comp needs to be rebooted.....or that might be due to me not having mem sticks.

linksys or netgear make some good cards.

if you wanna go truly mobile, verizon has their cards starting at $39.99/month for service. unfortunately you're limited to 50Mb, strictly for browsing/emails only.

If you want a serious good card, look for an old Orinoco Gold card (not the Proxim one). I've read mixed review on Linksys stuff, and have not had good experiences with their routers. My netgear router is crapping out too, time to upgrade to a Cisco.
