when i got my s13 someone before me thought it would be a good idea to paint a big square on the perfectly good carbon fiber hood.
i, of course, do not think this was a good idea and now that it is my car, i would like to remove it
it was flat black primer spray paint

any suggestions

Forget it just give the hood to me save you the headache...j/k

try buffing it down and applying new clear thats what we did for my friends FD. but were big on doing body work if anything take it to a shop and ask them how much to sand/buff it down and Reapply a clear coat

sand down the upper layer of clearcoat, clean, then paint over with clear coat again.

Body color carbon is really teh way to go, IMHO. Carbon hoods (unpainted) better be on a full race car, or a stock Honda.

yeah sanding... well start alittle stronger then 2000 grit or you will be on it for days lol. maybe wetsand from 1000 ---> 1500 ---> 2000 ... something like that. then clear it.

+1

Painted my CF hood and hatch the same as the rest of the car. Whenever I open one or the other I always get "Whoa, that's carbon?" comments. :D

Driving around socal I see unpainted body kits, mismatched fenders, and just utter nastiness all over. Yet for some reason when it's carbon fiber, even though it mismatches, it's cool? :P

would you be able to use some brake clean or carb cleaner to take off most of it ? if it is just primer , then i wouldnt see why not . if you had to sand after then it would be minimal . i think it would work , but i have never done it on carbon , it might oxidze the the clear coat or appoxy .

why did the person primer over it ? did they have to use body filler somewhere on the hood ? good luck
