Ight guys, I need a little support here. Ive searched a lot and havent really come with a direct answer to my concern. Heres what we got:

S13 Sr20 Going into 95 Zenki Chassis

I have both Ka lower Harness & The Sr20 Lower harness

Sr20 Lower harness obviosouly isnt going to plug and play into the 95 chassis.

Ka harness fits chassis but does not fit any plugs on the tranny itself, besides alt, starter and those few things.

My question is find ka sensors out of a ka tranny and swap them into my sr20 tranny for plug and play for the 95 harness? Or is there a diffrent route using my sr20 harness and the ka harness i have. I dont have any of the sensors tho, so if anyone has any, if this is the way to go let me know.

Any help would greatly be apperciated. Help a premie out!! ;)

Cut the plugs off and splice or just leave it all loose, the VSS is the only thing you *need*. If you don't have one though you're in pain. Start looking.

rather than make a new thread im just bumping this one.....

i have an s13 redtop into a 95 as well, my speed sensor on the tranny has the plug cut off of it, but i have a good length of wire to work with, which are green and black. with some searching on here i've found that the green wire needs to go to the yellow/blue wire, while the black needs to go to the yellow/black wire. I can find those 2 yellow wires up in the connector near the fuse box, but they don't appear to be in any of the plugs down near the trans. do they change colors somewhere along the way?

this is the speed sensor, correct?

Yes thats the speed sensor. I have an S13 SR in my S13 and I used the USDM speed sensor and my KA lower harness, plugged right in, the only thing I had to hardwire was my reverse sensor. Don't know how the S14 is setup.

You have to use a S14 speed sensor. In a s14, regardless if its a s13 or s14 motor yes it will plug right in.

so the speed sensor thats in there now, needs to be replaced with an s14 one that will plug into one of those plugs that are hanging there, is that what your saying?

Or you can splice the SR speed sensor with the wires from the KA plug.

which is kinda what i was originally asking, which plug is it :) because none of them appear to have a yellow/blue and yellow/black in them

Look for a two wire harness that would reach the speed sensor if you were to install the lower harness correctly.

The sensors on the transmission are, Speed Sensor, 5th gear sensor and the reverse sensor. (dont think theres any others)

These are all good questions ~ and thanks for bumping this thread adictd2b00st. I'll be doin all this next week when I do my S13SR -> S14a swap.

looks like it might be that shorter grey plug in the pic, i'll take a look at it in the morning thanks...... polarity doesn't matter for the signal from what i've read as well?

np, good timing i guess!

K first pix...yes thats the speed sensor. Problem is you cant use that one. Thats an S13 speed sensor. You'll have use the S14 speed sensor you have off your KA. If you dont have it, time to source another one. SR or KA aslong as its an S14 one it will work. S14 sensors dont have a pigtail to it.

On the 2nd pix, is that your S14 KA lower harness or S13 SR lower harness???
If you still have your KA lower harness, use that one. Just swap over the sensors you need off the KA into the SR so everything will be plug and play.

thanks for clearing that up  i've had s13's before but this is the first s14 lol

this all makes more sense now then, because in the box of parts that came with this car there was a new speedo from nissan in one of the bags, and it doesn't have a pigtail on it, like you said. i'll get that one in and plug it in and see what happens. as far as what lower harness that is, i really couldn't tell you, i wish i knew! ( i got this particular car as a partial "project" that was mostly finished)

Or you can splice the SR speed sensor with the wires from the KA plug.

Not if it's an S13 VSS. Pay attention to the thread.

S13 VSS has a pigtail with two wires, his S14 lower harness has a plug with two wires for the speed sensor. Why couldn't you mate these? He has an SR S13 ECU.

Yes, in an S14 chassis. S14 cluster = S14 VSS. He can wire it that way all it wants but the speedometer won't read correctly. I guess I have to type it again since no one can read.

S14 VSS must be used with an S14 cluster

S13 VSS must be used with an S13 cluster

The only other difference is auto vs. manual.

and it looks like you have part of the s14 speed sensor in the picture. So i'm gonna guess you have a s14 lower harness. Let me know if you need one.

Only exception to projectRDM's rule is using a Kouki 180SX cluster you must use s14 speed sensor/pigtail for your s13. But no here has one of those, except me. Haha

ok so i went to try that speed sensor with the 2 pin plug......and the plug physically too big to plug into the speed sensor.

the plug i tried using:
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c354/adictd2b00st2/wiring.jpg

and the obvious size difference
http://i31.photobucket.com/albums/c354/adictd2b00st2/vssplug.jpg

does that mean i have the incorrect lower harness? or the wrong speed sensor still?

**sorry for the poor picture quality, but still gets the point across lol **

Thats not the right plug at all. Are you using your KA harness thats originaly out of the car? Cuz you need to be. The speed sensor plug will be the last plug on the harness, and of course smaller than what your showing, and will plug right in. Keep pluggin away, but it realy shouldnt be all that difacult to figure out. GL

like i said, i bought this car already swapped, so i have no idea what lower harness this is....and thats definitly the smallest plug on there, and the only 2 wire one at that. which is why i'm so confused!

well, i now know what you meant by that lol in the 2nd picture i posted in post #3 of this thread, that circular shaped "plug" wasn't a plug at all, it was part of the old speed sensor! once i got all the grease etc that was packed onto it cleared away, the small 2 pin plug was right there, unplugged it and plugged right into my new vss. looking back now it was so obvious, i feel like an idiot lol thanks for all of the help guys!
