So I dont know what the fuck, but i just rebuilt my motor not to long ago, and now its leaking like a siv... everywhere.
oil pressure is like 80 psi on startup and after a loooong ass time goes down to like 20psi at idle which is about 900rpm. WTFFFFFFF. OEM everything on the rebuild, no mixing of liquids, everything was machined. Its an sr. Im running 5w 30 and starting to get uuber pissed at this motor. rule of thumb is like 10 psi for every thousand rpm, but wtf is up with double that. If I go thicker oil to stop the leaks, then the oil pressure will go up, but thinner will be more leaky. Seems kinda lose lose. And I sealed everything to tourqe according to fsm.
Least Ill never spin a bearing:bigok:

My car with a freshly rebuilt KA using oem stuff is around 70psi on cold start up until idle drops and all the oil is warmed up. Then it idles around 40psi

eh, dont see anything wrong with it. Ive seen my car do 6 bar startups in cold mornings.

Same. In cold, my startup oil pressure is around 70-80 psi, then drops down to around 30 psi at idle.
In summer, warm, idle pressure is around 20-25 psi.

Those numbers sound almost exactly like my rebuild. I wouldn't worry about it. Why do you have to pull the engine and "reseal everything"?

The numbers are normal. I don't see why you're worried about nothing.

Like everyone else, my car is around 70-80 psi during start up.
After driving a couple blocks, the pressure usually drops around 30-40 for me.

my sr after warming up sits at about maybe 15ish psi at idle, should i worry? haha
Only if it says 0. :)

Hey Buddy, ease down with the swearing... I know you must be frustrated, we're here to help :)
On 'Cold Morning' starts it should Idle between 70-80 psi, after driving for 5-10 min it can be anywhwere between 20-40 psi (idle). I'm also using 10W-30 oil as required for most turbo charged motors. I'd worry if the oil pressure guage displays '0' Other than that you're fine, now smile!

The rule is 10 psi per 1000 rpm but if its higher that isnt bad its good. Hell LS1s run 50-70 psi at idle when warm. You want all the Oil Pressure you can get, so 20 sounds normal to me since thats what mine was. Just as long as when you hit the gas it goes up 10 per 1000 your fine.

The whole 10psi per 1000rpms isn't worth thinking about. There are WAY to many variables.
I have noticed changes in oil pressure from different oil filters.

Thats true also. The K&N filters on LS1 make close to 10-20 psi difference than cheap filters.
Also high priced filters have an Pressure spring in them which will hold oil in the upper parts of the motor when you turn it off so that on start up its not dry.

becaue my engine likes to mark its territory.
