Came home to this:

Apparently it's my across the street neighbor's brother in law. The family came over when I wasn't home and told my sister to come talk to them.
I think he backed out his driveway and hit my car.
What I don't get is how you freaking push it up onto the curb.
If my wheel hadn't been turned it would have bent some suspension parts for sure. My right wheel smashed the curb on the way up, chipping cement off of it. It feels alright when driving, nothing irregular, but I'm taking it to the body shop now.
Gonna get quotes & whatnot but I'm sure they are going to be a hair under $1000 for a fender, bumper, paint & labor, plus wheel repair & possibly an alignment. I'm not really worried about the wheel as much as I'm worried about bent suspension parts.
He wants to settle outside insurance so we'll see.
UPDATE:

I just talked to him.
Turns out he was unlicensed & had no insurance.
He was good on his word, I've got the money to repair the damages now.
A happy ending to an unfortunate event.
make him sign a contract or something
i donno, but i'd make sure that he's legally bound to this accident

make sure you have a police report
insurance or not, its the only way you can tie him to the accident if he decides to turn out and be a bitch

+1 just do a police report unless he is giving you cash on the spot

You're so lucky you weren't a hit-n-run victim. I've gotten hit-n-run dents on BOTH my rear quarterpanels. Anyways, looks like you don't even need to replace your bumper, just the fender and bumper extension +paint.

seriously, just file a police report. i know you wanna be nice, but something like this happened to me and i was stupid and didnt file a report. needless to say, i was dealt with a bunch of bs form the other side--started to even lie and say i hit'em! luckily i went thru insurance and got 1700 bucks for a fender bender. :) so yea, do it while you still can!

That looks like a corner I know in Baldwin Park. Am I right? If I am a friend of mine use to live right around the corner from there.

Wow you're lucky your wheels were turned so it just went up on the curb instead of bending rods.
how did your car lift up to jump on the curb?
that is very very very weird.
its like your car got scared and flinched up the curb.

the guy who hit your car was either going really slow and very persistent or he was hauling ass backwards and just smacked the piss out your car real quick. you're lucky you had your wheels turned in. i started thinking about "what if that happened to me" and then i realized theres barely any curbs here. just really deep ditches and super steep hills my car could go barreling down...

does he even have insurance?
I'm curious
holyfuckingshit
the operator is annoying the shit out of me
she said they won't send anyone out because there wasn't a crime or injury
SLUT
two years ago I got dicked over because some fucker hit me going 60mph when I was at a standstill, and totaled my car. Police didn't file a report, and later on he said I swerved in front of him and won.
AHHHGHHHh this is pissing me off
I got two quotes and they're both ~$2700, so I'm trying to get a report just in case the guy decides to not pay
ugh

like every1 else said file a police report to and have him sign a contract and get it notorized so he has to hold to it

^^^ ditto......have him buy you a silvia front lol
but yea i think he was backin out really quick and misjudged how close or far away your car was
I'm planning to have him sign a notarized contract stating that he has paid me the money, but at this point I'm stuck. I have his number, but the guy doesn't speak english so I can't call him and start talking to him.
I don't have his insurance info, a picture of his car, nothing. I have his phone number and the neighbors - I'm going to talk to them and have him come down & take pictures of his car & present him the estimate. I'd rather have this stay outside insurance as the cost will put a salvage title on my car, which is something I don't really want.

Get a police report. For sure don't even fuck around. Tell him you'll turn it in to your insurance people if he doesn't pay in full. Good luck dude.
uhghh
POLICE REPORT IS A NO GO
called and they still won't send anyone out. No injuries & not a hit & run so I'm dicked out.
btw it's not in baldwin park
good try

OH FOR SURE get that police report..if you just take down the info..and maybe they dont give you the right info..poof
they didnt do you and you have nothing to prove it..
but i got hit in my back bumper...and my estimate was just under a grand..and it was like a light tap..but it spidered all my paint..and the adjuster people said that it probably broke all the plastic pieces in the bumper..and it costs money. lol
good luck man

pretend as if you were injured?
although I see absolutely no possible way you were injured unless mentally scarred. but hay, the cops don't know that, if its the only thing that will get them out there, maybe its worth a shot?

IIRC, can't you just go down to the PD and file a police report? I think I remember having to do that with a collision my wife was involved in a few years back... something to look into so you can have a legal document on file if the S hits the fan.
Also, were you parked in the red zone, or did the Accord push you into it? Hope that doesn't become a factor... good luck with the repair!

You should still file a police report.
There's a reason why people without licenses shouldn't drive and this is one of them. They have to learn the hard way and the only way to smack in it their head not to drive is to have it on their record. Next time might be worse.

I would've told the police my ego was injured.
So, you're getting ~$2700 for repairs?
Can you just use that money to spend on a pair of overs and wheels and use the money left over on suspension?
