Yes this is a used part, so i know its possible its just bad, but i want to make sure first. i hooked up everything and turned the key to ACC... the orange "arrow" buttons all light up, but nothing happens on the screen. BUT if i hold down the "previous" or "next" button, it will go into its opening sequence etc, as soon as i let off the button, the screen goes blank. press the button again, goes back into the opening sequence.... anyone ever have this happen before?

my only other thought is that this car has been sitting for a while and i know the battery is probably drained a good amount, but at the same time its enough power to prime the fuel pump and the lights work etc, i can't imagine the afc draws more power than those items do?

Re-seat the cable inside, wrap tape around the cable like a bushing or grommet =-0------>ecu. Then put the afc back together [0] then, re tighten the screws on the S-AFC..

The tape is so when you pull the cable, it doesn't pull out of the socket.

so i took your advice and pulled it apart, everything looked nice and tight, put it back together, and sure enough it was on! started to put it back and it went out again.... started looking at other things, and turns out it was one of the wires inside the harness plug that wasn't making a good contact, all is well now, thanks for the reply :)
