search. This is an old topic.
Basics is the tranny is the same size as a s13/s14 tranny with an extra gear. Hence, smaller internals. Usually when the 6th gear is added the manufacturer makes a larger tranny/shorter drive shaft. Nissan didn't.

Thats not the only reason. The other reason is the speed sensor. Its in the diff on an s15 not the tranny so the speedo wont work. There is an adapter though. You need a diff with an ABS sensor.

Cuz they suck...absolutely no point of putting it in when the 5 speed and 6 speed has the same final gear. Its not like the 6th gear in lets say...the corvette where it helps by saving you gas cruising on the highway.

Now that's one I didn't know. +rep for you sir. That makes it entirely pointless.

who needs speedos anyways??
if you do a s13 tranny on a s15 engine
you must use s13/s14 flywheel/clutch combo

I don't know about you, but driving without a speedo on the street drove me insane.

S15SR + S15 rear subframe + S15 cluster. lol overkill and completely unnecessary.

The speedo issue (may include the tach too, but I can't remember) can be remedied with the converter. I think (don't quote me) it's made by Dakota Digital. You can wire it up to read from the abs snout on an abs diff. If the final gear is not different though, it's pointless. Only making you shift an extra time without giving you the benefit of it... (lower RPMs on the highway)

More gear in the same start and end gear ratio suppose to mean more usable power band, but since your can does not go 200mph and you do not floor it every time you drive it, it is pointless.
