how long does it usually take for the rings to seat in a new engine i just got a fully built sr it now has 550 miles on it and still smokes a little blue im just wondering why. does it take the full 1000 miles for them to seat correctly or do i have a problem?

blue smoke is usually a head gasket issue.
after the first 20 miles you normally want to change the oil again and I recommend a magnetic drain plug.
then just 500 of street driving, check fluids and temps look for any leaks
then drive till your next oil change constantly checking fluids, for leaks, etc.

How long the rings take to seat depend more on the piston than anything. It usually seems to take SR's quite awhile on CP and JE. The fastest seating on Mahle's pistons. You need to vary the RPM that you are driving at to have an effective seat. Drive it up to 40 in gear and about 6k or so RPMs and then coast back down, downshifting as needed should make for a nice seat. I wouldn't be too worried on this side of 1k though.

How did you place the gaps on the rings?
