k so i looked around , and I couldnt find a similar scenario. My engine is burning oil, so i think, my engine shows signs of minor leaks like the brown sludge on the front of the motor with dirt, but not much, not 2 quarts a month worth. i did a leak down on my car and it was 3-5% leak at most, and I did a compression test and it was 175 all across. my turbo was rebuilt about 4 months ago, it got a new chra so it was basically new. I do smell like a pungent smell out of the exhaust, and when i floor it I see blackish brown smoke come out. I dont have an oil catch can yet, but not too sure how much that will help. oh yea btw i have a s14 sr if that helps.
so if you have any idea or recommendations to do or check it would be great. thanks ahead for any help

oil smoke is gray, so that black stuff out the tailpipe is cuz you're running rich. Probably the smell too.
Get a catch can is all i can think of.

check your valve seals...i learned that if you only get smoke on acceleration that its oil leaking down into your valves when they open...my money is on valve seals

But don't valves open as long as the engine is running?

your right they do open and close as the engine is running...ill ask my teacher why its only when you accelerate tommorow...
oil smoke is gray,
I thought it was blue?

It is.
Oil smoke is bluish.
Coolant is whitish.
Running rich is black and sooty and smells bad.
To the OP,
what are you running for fuel tuning?

I'm a little curious myself as I get a little "PUFF" on innitial starts in the summer. The Puff looks a little Blue-ish. I didn't know if it was piston rings or Valve seals though.
Oil burning is def BLUE! My 1st car (RIP) was a 1989 Hyundai Excell which went thru about a quart a day...soooo needless to say I know exactly what it looks and smells like in large billowing buffs lol :) Damned koreans, who else can design a block that cracks after 90k miles????

freakin valve seals dude, pull your motor out and redo all the seals.... and rtv... its not that hard... if u did a leak down test... then that lets u know u dont have a blown HG

so i found out why its only on acceleration...its only on acceleration because when you start to accelerate the oil pressure increases and oil is forced past the seals...and it could be rings...
