"Hella NorCal" Sacramento Meet and Cruise

For a while, I've been wanting to try to set up a meet to get a chance to know some of the local members, but I've been busy trying to get my car running! Finally, though, the 'Goon is on the road, and I want to meet you guys.

The FINALIZED date is Sunday, April 27. I'm planning this meet as kind of a 'Culture Clash' of sorts. Since I have some roots in mini trucks, I'm going to see how many of them would be interested in cruising with the local 240sx's and related cars. If we get a fair amount of people, it should be a blast to trade tips and tricks, and we may end up with SR'd mini's, and dumped 240's because of it!

We will meet at Adalberto's on Greenback and Hazel, chat and dine from about 11:30 to 12:30, when we will cruise to Griffith Quarry Park, where we will all meet up and chat about the cars we've brought with us for an hour or two. Take pictures of the guys that came out, and be open to the crowds that come. Trucks on air ride might not be your thing, as drifting might not be theres, but we're all car enthusiasts, and the work that goes into their projects is as insane as ours.

I've scouted the road, and there are no major potholes, cracks in the ground or sketchy asphalt in general. Driving at a "spirited," though not illegal pace, the 25-30 mile cruise took me about 30-40 minutes, including being stuck behind a cement truck traveling 20mph. The roads are smooth, as I mentioned, as well as being very lightly trafficked and quite twisty with some great views. There are plenty of photo opportunities along the drive, and Griffith Quarry Park is in a fairly rustic portion of Placer County, with great lighting, though a rough, gravley parking lot. Getting lost would be difficult, and the last stretch before the park, there is a nice tunnel that would sound wicked with a few cars blowing through it.

The main idea behind the meet would be to get a chance to know your fellow Zilvia.net members, have a chance to see some fairly wicked mini trucks, and talk about what had brought us all together in the first place: our passion for automobiles.

I'm fairly open to suggestion as of now, since I don't plan on having the meet until near the end of the month, so any ideas or concerns can be voiced here. Though the main groups that I see making an appearance are 240's and some 'bagged trucks, I'll spread the word to local Corolla guys, and I'm open to other people joining in. There will be NO racing, NO street drifting, and NO stupid stunts being pulled on the cruise. Mature driving only, take the time to snap some photos of the guys that came out so we can post them up here and have a pleasant experience, rather than having somebody skid off the road and into a tree.

The road does get fairly windy and the lanes get a bit more narrow in the last 7-10 miles, so please drive responsibly. The return trip is more downhill than the trip there, so it could be even more dangerous, keep your eyes on the road as there are houses near the street. However, the trip there and back had me smiling from ear to ear, it's a great drive.

For sure, man, spread the word. Like I said, I don't want a bunch of kids in rice rockets flying down that hill, things could get out of hand really quickly. Even though the roads were fairly empty, you'd pass a car the opposite direction every 10-20 seconds. I just don't want to have a get together and wind up watching somebody die, you know?

But yeah, spread the word, I'm thinking there are probably only like 10 of us on Zilvia that would be interested in attending the first one, anyway, and maybe a few more on club4ag.

The scenery is pretty kickass, and like I said, the road is windy and had me smiling for a good 7-10 miles. Tunnels are always good times with a few loud cars in them, too!

It's cuz Sacramento people suck. It'll only be a few hour long meet, ending later in the afternoon (around 4-6ish, depending on turnout), so I don't see a Bay Area drive being fully worth it. However, if things turn out well, I was chatting with KCN about doing like a once-a-month cruise, and a biweekly meet, so we can start planning big cruises to bigger venues than a park/museum.

Small warning, the Adalbertos parking lot is super tiny, and it's near peak hours in the day. I did talk to one of the employees, who said Sundays are their slowest days, but still gets busy midday, so you MIGHT have to park next door, so get there at 11:30 and hang out for the full hour until cruise time if you want a chance at parking.

My car is just being a bitch. I had a greddy kit on it but I switched out everything with better parts. The Z32 maf or the ecu tune is making my life a pain in the ass. The car starts and idles fine but when i rev it up it just feels like it cuts out at 2,000 rpm. Any ideas? My timing is spot on at 20 degrees at idle cause I got a blitz r-vit to tell timing and JWT ecu for my tune.

Anyways. Ill see if I can get the day off or something. I would like to go out to a meet cause I havnt been to a good meet in a while.

We won't be loitering, we'll be eating and chatting before we take off for the cruise. And there won't be any stupid driving, right kids? So cops won't be an issue either. One of the mini truck guys (Datsun 620 truck) said he's interested, but wanted to make sure we wouldn't be cruising over 50mph for most of it... He can't keep up, haha. So yeah, we'll stick together, make a nice racing echelon of cars/trucks and have fun.

Sure, the 240sx is way more practical... But that's a badass ride. Cars should be built to be driven. A show car is so much hotter when the front lip is scraped and it's missing half the tread on the tires!

z32 maf iss prolly messed up. With a damaged maf your car wont rev over 2000 rpm.

O I know that place. I had my car painted at revolution auto body back when it was good. I meet the dudes at mac auto. They seem cool and know their stuff. That main mechanic sold his rb20 S14 and got a sc300 and i think his younger bro or something has a S13 with a SR.

My friend is looking to get his SR running right and right now money is sorta tight haha. Any forum members that do mechanical work as a side job around sac?

Greenback and Hazel is where we're starting, in Orangevale, and we'll be cruising up to Penryn, which is like 5 minutes from Auburn. I don't think it'll be a OMGSUPERHUGE meet, but I'm hoping for around 15 cars to be there. If this goes well, I'll try to make things happen a bit more frequently and get some better venues and such, but this was a spur the moment idea that Kurt and I talked about like 20 minutes before I posted it.

Come out, there are supposed to be 2 'bagged minis, at least one 510 besides mine, if he fixes it in time, and a few 240sx's out there. Again, tell your friends and bring out some diversity! It'd be cool to see some old VW's, AE86's, Datsuns, Nissans and some lowriders/classics.

Do what you will, I'm merely requesting that nobody gets killed, injured or arrested. These are not closed roads and they aren't necessarilly EMPTY roads either. There is enough traffic, and the roads are narrow enough for me to feel uncomfortable sliding around blindly.

It's a nice, quiet, scenic, 40 minute drive to a little dirt parking lot where we can snap some photos and meet eachother. Apparently, someone on Club4AG plans on bringing "something like nobody's ever seen before..."

Not a bad idea, if people are awake by then. I might cruise in to see what's up! It's only a 20 minute drive or so from there to Adalbertos, so I'll keep it in mind! Anybody else interested in going there first and meeting up at Adalberto's afterward? If there's enough interest, I'll for sure go to meet up and hang out for a while!

Offtopic, this sucks, it's raining outside and I decided to drive the 'Goon today... which has no wipers and next to no weather stripping. Driving home should be fun!

For sure! Truth be told, I've got my fingers crossed that my car doesn't break again until after the meet! I'll have a full set of ratchets and sockets, etc in case of any failure; my car or someone else's! Honestly, I think that for the most part, everybody's car is going to be a bucket in some way or another. If Stew makes it out with his show-winning, magazine spread 510, I'll be surprised. Since his build was finished, he's had nothing but problems with the car/SR20, so he's never gotten to REALLY drive his car before!

For sure, man, add my number. If you're able to make it, that'd be rad! Even if you hop in line midway through the cruise or something. Also, if you need a ride or anything, my passenger seat is still open, and I'm sure there's quite a number of people with room in their cars if somebody can't bring their own! The whole 'omgTogue' thing just kind of irks me, you know? We're on public roads; people's houses are in sight of the road, and they're driving their kids to and from church. There are just too many stories of shit happening like the Infinity vs Vespa groups because some teenager in mommy's car killed him trying to drift a public road. I'm not saying don't have fun, but for Chrissake, don't be retarded!

We're on the better Coast, in California. We have more race tracks and events going on locally than anybody else, an event is a few hundred bucks, somebody's life has no price. Ya'herrrrd?

Quick post. There are THREE DAYS before the meet! I still don't know for sure how many people will be coming, though I still have my fingers crossed for about 15. I left my email adress and phone number in the original post, and you can contact me any time, just let me know WTF you are and what youre calling about! I will be bringing some water bottles, if someone wants to bring sodas or whatever, that'd be cool too, as well be parked and chatting for a while.

Please, if youre going to come to the meet, add my number to your phones! We will leave from Adalbertos at 12:30-12:45, and I am bringing a small flier with the route were driving, so if something comes up and you miss the first meeting point, you will need to call me to get directions!!

Ghey, at least meet in Penryn. If you take the freeway, it's like a 10 minute drive from greenback/hazel, and we'll be there longer/more grouped than at greenback/hazel.

There are only a total of 16 parking spaces at Adalbertos, one of which is a handicapped spot, and some will be taken by employees, so people will likely have to park next door.

Get excited, it should be pretty rad! I'll be showing up at Adalbertos at about 11:30 tomorrow morning to get me some goddamn fuel in my belly and hand out directions. We'll be leaving no earlier than 12:30! Depending on the turnout, and what's going on, we'll be taking off between 12:30 and 1:00, so get there and shoot the shit while you can.

I have 20 or so printouts for directions on the route we're taking. Before I leave tomorrow, I'll also be posting our route on here, so if you guys get a late start, check the site for where we'll be going. If worse comes to worse, it's a VERY quick drive to Penryn if you take the freeway there. You'll miss out on the "there" part of it, but you'll make it for the meet and the "back" portion of it, at least!

Again, they closed off part of the drive, so we have to go about 5-10 minutes out of our way to avoid the construction on the onramp. No worries, though, it's still nearly impossible to get lost!

Bring your cameras and/or camcorders, bring something to drink (nonalcoholic!!) and bring a friend, there ought to be a few pretty neat cars out there. I'm going to a birthday party tonight, so I will have my phone on me and at the ready if anybody wants/needs to call tonight with a question.

Lastly, wash your car tomorrow morning! Just give it a spritz and a rub, people will be taking pictures of it and posting it on the site (myself included!). Also, there's going to be things OTHER than 240sx's and Datsuns, so don't be haters and be civilized, yeah? Pinky out when you talk shit tomorrow!

Last but not least, be safe tomorrow, guys. I've said it a few times, this is not a "ZOMG TOGUE!!1" run, and these streets are public with driveways leading to parts. I don't want anybody injured or any cars destroyed. Keep near the speed limit. I'm all for spirited driving, but if you're flying sideways around blind turns you're retarded and should be kicked in the neck.

A few of us had cameras, but when we were at Adalbertos, nobody was parked for a photo shoot. I decided to take pictures once we all got out and were parked next to eachother.

Next time, I'll try to pick some more open venues where we can all park near/next to eachother and sit in the shade to talk. It was super hot, but live and learn, yeah?
