looking into a few things, just wanted to know if you could help me out

few questions/opinions/feedback

-where did you get your swap done?
-how would you rate the quality of the motor/installation?
-how much did you pay and when?
-how is the car currently running?

Wuttup Duff,

I had my SR swap done a little over 2 years ago at R&D Factory in Montebello. I'm pretty happy with the quality of the motor and work done since I haven't had any issues with it, like some horror stories I've heard around. I paid out the door $5k but that's because I added alot of extras etc. I've recently heard front clips are running a little more now than they were back then, plus the mechanic who did my swap is no longer at R&D so I've also heard mixed feelings about their work now.
I sent a buddy of mine there to do his swap last year (Type-X Blacktop) and his is running strong right now, but had some minor issues at the beginning. Good thing was they fixed is so it's all good. As for mine it's running great right now knock on wood! Let me know if you need any other info g.

Hey, Duff

1)
-I recommand G-dimension in City of Industry.
-SUPER Clean swap NO Mickey Mouse!! I rate them 10/10 that just me.
-I belive the price range is about 3700$ with labor for a black top swap.. not sure about red but should be cheaper.
-My friend had his car done at 120,000 and now the car has about 170,500 with a black-top. And still running smooth, with stock set-up.

If you go to G-dimension ask for James, and tell him Peter send you..

2) Shutoko in City of industry also..

This is my friends recommdation.. but if you go there ask for Johnson also said Peter send you here.

3) Phase 2 Motortrend

They dont do swap any more and they are most selling parts now. but they can look up SR for you.

Ask for Wayne, said Peter send you here. But i belive Wayne recommand G's or Shutoko

ive actually talked to james over at g-dimension today, he quoted $4k installed for s14 sr20 all stock set up

also talked to marco today about the same motor, $5200 installed with no intercooler, no radiator, no downpipe, no air filter

ill checkout smoothlines, ive never heard of them but its worth a shot

because im pricing things out right now, car is sitting with a blown ka, i have my TSX so im not TOO rushed, but i just HATE not being able to drive the s14

I had a long block installed by R&D Factory ($1500). Less then a year into it, cyl. #3 blew and some of my rocker arms broke. Plus they installed the stock BPV into the wrong vacuum nipple and I had compressor surge. I told this is Ed, but he said thats how it was supposed to be. So went on Zilvia did my research and fix it myself.
IMO R&D Factory is a gamble. If you want to just buy a motor and do the install yourself, R&D Factory is a decent place to go.

Marco at sr20store charges a bit more but you DEF get more than what you pay for. His motors are the CLEANEST by far

id like to do it myself, however with a full time job, wife and kid...i dont have the time

i also looked into rb-performance, really cool guys, prices are great...im just not comfortable with leaving my car at someone's house...id rather spend a lil bit more knowing my car will be stored properly at a SHOP.

i agree with norm on that one, marco is very good and u get your harness done by ken flores one of the best wiring guys in socal.

marco takes his time and will replace alot of your parts w/ new ones

G-dimension is good as well for the price. Steve the person who will be wiring and doing your swap is very good and has been trained really well by james. James is the owner and he is the person who will oversea and help you with questions and billing. James wired my 1st car personally back in 2002 and is a very fair and stand up guy.

my personal car was a phase2motortrend.com car, when james worked there. It ran for 30k miles until i sold it and is still running now. I got a special rate, but if you were to doit today as a regular customer it'd be about 5k and if G-dimension is offering it for 4k its well worth it.

I recommend both of them. If it was my money i'd use SR20store as marco tends to high-ball and even so he does some of the best work i've seen and it will for sure turn out to be a clean swap. U spend a little more in the front end but marco will make sure your car is perfect and he will usually include Air conditioning and new water pump.

I've heard only good things about R&D. Thats where Colin Frost recommended me to go. Although I ended up doing the swap myself (runs great), I'd go for R&D.

just go to G-dimension. they do one of the best work (IMO) in so cal. They hand pick their clips and do their own wiring and labor. Expect CLEAN work.
http://www.g-dimension.com/nissan240.html

4k INSTALLED to OEM is cheap as fawk.. the clip itself is 3500 anywhere you go.

other shops outsource their work but i wont say who :)
