So anyways, there is a ricer hang out around where i live. I stop by sometimes when i need to see some of the people that come over there. So this saturday i came down there with a friend of mine just cuz we got nothing worthwhile (i was writing a school cs project for a total of 29hours during the weekend) to do.

Anyways, as we were about to leave, a group of guys came by and starting asking me about my car. Apperantly one of them wanted to buy an s14a and so i got all the standard questions (pricing, turbo or sr, handling and so on). As we were chatting this white boy came by. He listened for some time, and then broke the silence:

[main point of the post]

him: Nah man, i don't believe in 240s
me: why not?
him: Man, 200sx. I tell ya. That car is the best.
me: Eh? Got the SE-R? That engine is nice...
him: Nah man, it's a base 1.6L
me: Huh? What do you have done to it?
him: exhaust, pulleys, intake..
me: how fast do you run the 1/4 mile?
him: 12.83secs.. when i'm gonna put the turbo on, i'm gonna brake 11s. Mang, the thing put down 172.8 rwhp at the dyno!
(At this point my friend whispers bs to me, and the group of guys interrested in 240s make excited faces)
me: Is the car stripped?
him: Stripped?........ yeah yeah. Completely.
me: can i take a look at it? Lemme just roll up the window of my car.
him: Yeah sure..
(He starts walking away as i'm rolling up the window getting excited about calling bs on the guy and challenging him to a race w/ my newly reborn 240 )
As I put the alarm on, and turn around, the guy is gone. We start searching the parking lot for a 200sx, but couldn't find a single one except for a brand new sentra se-r.

[/main point of the post]

So there you have it

hell Yeah intake, exhaust and pulleys with NAWWZZ he will break 10's easy!

Ricers fail to realize it takes time money and tuning to get that fast...

Did you see two streaks of fire on the road? He probably went so fast that he broke the the time dimension like the Delorian in Back to the Future! If you wait he might re-appear...

It was like 10 minuted b4 you arrived. When you came by we just came back from teh pointless search for the supafast 200sx lol. Yeah it's pathetic. I should take some pictures of the place sometime so everyone on here could see it. There is a new accord there (seen it for just 2 days). Light blue with widebody conversion, a park bench that's 1.5 times wider than the car. And all he got is the exhaust. Doesn't even have an intake iirc. So yeah. I keep asking myself why do i ever go there. Prolly just to get a good laugh from the guys with 12sec sentras.

Oh, there was another encounter last week. It was quite funny. There was this hatched 93 civic. Also blue. With the firebird nostrils on the hood. Interior was standard ricer. But he had like a boost gauge, apexi turbo timer, and all the standard turbo gauges. So like everyone who would come by would be like, wow he got a turbo. So i come by. I see the gauges. I go to the front. sit down and realize he doesn't an fmic. So i start looking for a side mount (the bumper was wide enough for me to look on the sides). None. At this point i see the headers. With a grin i get up and ask the owner to lift the hood. He said no. So i ask if he wants to race my stock 240sx. him: no. So i confront him "Dude, why would you need a boost gauge if you don't have a turbo?" (w/ a bunch of people around). No answer.... i left

Are you talking about that Accord that has that dragon hood and the widebody kit that looks like it has Z3 fenders molded onto the rear doors? THat was disgusting. I will take pics next time we are up there.

Lol man, funny you say that
Right after i left the place, i got the idle jumping from like 800 to 1000 rpm at the red light. After that i get into trouble of starting the car (when it's cold): it drops in rpms and if i don't give it a bit of gas it dies on me. The idle is fine, but a bit rough: there is this feeling of the engine shaking - i had that before, but it was less noticable.

I'm thinking I got a vacuum leak somewhere or a dirty something that causes the idle to be fucked up. Other than that drives nicely. I got it to loose traction at 3000 rpm in second gear accelerating in a straight line uphill (it was wet though)

Oh, and i completely forgot how to drive a stick shift over the 2 months lol

yeah, that sounds a lot like the kind of shit we get to put up with around here.... here's a couple examples from my school...
there's this guy with the most disgusting CRX you've ever seen. it's red, and the painr is faded and oxidized. he stripped off the bump guards on the side and then tried to bondo them. some parts he finished and primered grey. other parts he just left big blobs of bondo. then he bought some cheap ass body kit. it didn't fit right, but he slapped it on anyway and primered it. didn't mask off when he primered, just went at it. which is why his turn signals are now reddish-primer colored, as is most of the radiator. then he tried to fill in some of the huge gaps and obscure body lines left from the terrible fitting kit with bondo... leaving big bondo globs in even more areas. cool. oh, and the rear quarter windows are tinted. the hatch WAS tinted, but someone smashed it to steal his stereo. on his hood, he's got a pair of fake air scoops, much like those more commonly seen on late 80's/early 90's camaros. he put them on backwards, and didn't blend them into the body. just stuck them on the hood. it's grotesque. oh, and he's got a Pacesetter catback on there, too! how cool! it sounds horrible... he says it will be prepped and ready for paint on the 20th... but, horrifyingly hideous as his car may be, at least he doesn't think his car is fast. maybe furious, but not fast.
then there's this kid named donnie. he's a compulsive liar. he has a new Toyota Matrix, and thinks it's the fastest thing on two wheels. you should see how offended he gets when you call the matrix a station wagon. he goe to great extent to explain that it's a sport wagon. he also goes to great extent to explain that it's got the XRS engine in it, even though it's the XR model. oh, and it's an auto because when he bought it, the 6 speeds weren't in the US yet, and it'd be a year before anyone could get them. he then challenged me to find a manual matrix anywhere in the US. i went down to the toyota dealer and took pictures of three...
my favorite part of his stupidity is how he claims he's going to turbo his matrix. this is a kid that knows nothing about cars. at all. or has any money. he says he's going to save up 3 grand and get a turbo kit installed. i'm pretty sure the turbo kit only fits the XRS engine, which i know he doesn't have, not to mention costs like 4500 without installation...
oh, and he says he only fills up with 110 octane because the matrix is designed to run on race gas. i saw him at QT last week filling up on 87. and, a couple days ago, was witness to him getting spanked by a ford tempo.

i tell ya, they never learn.

Ok i "kinda" fixed half my problems. I got the idle to about the same that it was before the egine got fucked. I just advanced the distributor 1 degree. Made a huge difference. Try playin around with it, but be careful (havea timing gun handy just in case). Also check all the regular stuff : maf, iaa valve, egr <- whatever the book says (i'm gonna be doing that on saturday). And check spark plugs, maybe some of em are fouling out.
