does anyone have or hear qualified experience on cf trunks on the s14 zenki? from asking around, it seems cf trunks can have the tendency to leak. is this true?

Dust gets through to the inside of the trunk on windy days. If it rains or I wash it, water collects where the light bulbs are & splashes down into my trunk when I open it. I didn't have that problem w/ my oem trunk.

I'd say, it might work out fine as long as you seal everything off.
make sure all the rubber seals are new and you get the goop to seal the lights.

I don't have one.
I have a trunk from a silvia early model.
CF trunk seems pretty useless and pointless.
I mean, spend the money on something else.

I think I have this problem too
not in the actual trunk but uh on the sides? towards the top I get a puddle of water when I wash my car :( hard to explain the spot heh
OEM too btw

yeah water falls in my trunk too, but then again the seals are 12 years old lol.
hit up duffm4n on the boards, he has a carbon trunk on his zenki s14. Not that the front end style matters I think.

I had one on my S14 and it didn't leak. The spring would push the trunk up in that area to not sit flush....that and maybe your seals being old/worn can be the cause. Front end doesn't matter when your talking about the trunk
CF trunk might be good for weight reduction if it's a good CF hood...but like...stylistically, i think they look like shit
and for a street car, i'd hate aftermarket fitment for anything but aero...and even then, i'd want real aero

my CF trunk doesnt leak, i put it on, lined everything up right, put shims in where i needed to, and most importantly you need to remove the sissor springs that hold the OEM deck up... they will snap out at you so be careful they are under a lot of tension, but yea that helps to sit the trunk down better.
oh, and "Brian" CF trunks are about a 30lb weight savings if you have a OEM trunk with spoiler.... THATS why to get one.... All you clowns who rip out your interior plastic pieces and rip out un-necessary wiring are spending alot of time and ruining the interior look of your car, for about the same ammount of weight savings....

DO NOT and i mean DO NOT buy the seibon trunk. i have it and it's a total peice. there was a thread about it a while back. but basically NOTHING fits right. i bought mine b/c i was getting my car painted and there where spoiler holes in my metal trunk and basically price of cf trunk = fill holes and paint old trunk. but if i could do it over again i would in a second.
yes it is a lot lighter.
maybe a list is more clear:
-3rd break light does not fit
-rear garnish does not fit
-needed to mod the hinges
-major cutting to fit the revers light housings
-latch no longer works with a key only the truck release.
