whats up i got 19" volk gt-av wheels. I put them on my car about 2 weeks ago. fronts are 8.5 rears are 9.5. I got brand new tires on the rear and used nankangs on the front. Last week one of the fronts went flat.. had it checked out it was leaking from the bead.. had it sealed by a reputable tire shop... 2 days later the other front goes flat.. so i did the same thing..

Now tonight the first one i got sealed went flat again... Does it sound like theres a problem with the tires i have on the front or the wheels themselves?

they are 225/35/19

i havent had a problem at all with the rears 265/30/19...

just trying to figure out if i should buy 2 new tires.. i bought the wheels used.

your running a 265 on a 9.5 inch wheel?!

wowerz!

anyways, if working for goodyear has taught me nothing its that with a profile like that (35 series) and inflating to only 32-35 psi, every bump you hit will cause the bead to seperate a little causing your flats. try running higher PSI, or even try running bead sealer on the entire inside of the wheel.

what kind of tires are they that keep going flat?

Check the dot code the last 4 numbers are the date, maybe old?Check with the manufacturer and see if there was a defect on the specific coded tire.

look for dry rot?

OR better yet come see me at NTB in Danvers ma on 114 tomorrow, monday, or wednesday, my names hunter, i'll help you out.

make sure your tires are properly inflated, then take a spray bottle of soapy warm water and spray down the tire while off the car (if possible. It makes your life alot easier)

spray a small area at a time, watch for bubbles and listen for fizzing.

if your tire doesn't seam to be the problem, then spray the area where the wheel and tire meet on the rim, if not then spray the wheel. Atleast that is my thought process on the matter.

But hopefully it's your tire and not the wheel, I'm sure a tire would be alot cheaper to replace than a your wheel.

GL, let us know what you find!

Often times it is hard to tell when a 35 series tire looses pressure on the street.

Sounds like your wheel/tire is bleeding off pressure then that magical bump is making it pop the bead.

yea i had the whole bead re-sealed had the tire taken off and put back on then put in a dunk tank to check for leaks and there were none... and it was inflated properly.. its weird it doesnt go low the bead just breaks and it goes flat like instantly.. i think the tires are just crap and old. i'm gonna buy 2 new ones and if it still happens theres obviously a problem with the wheel but both fronts are doing it so its probably the tires.

and yea i got a 265 on the rear it fits perfect!!!

how about the valve stems?.. are they the pull in... rubber kind? or bolt in .. metal kind?.. I've seen the metal ones leak when the weight of the car is put on them... usually slow tho.. but 225 on an 8.5 rim in a 35 series is a bit of a stretch for the beads.. I would have to check charts, but I would think max rim width might be 8... we see this happen when trying to stretch tires... Just a thought...

Edit: my bad misread the last post. haha. do this next time.

If your not mounting them yourself, make sure you watch the tech doing it to make sure they are not fucking the bead up. At lot of people that work in tire shops don't know how to mount low pro's.
