Calipers siezed or soemthing else???

So I was trying to leave my house when all of a sudden it felt like I hit a brick wall when I hit my brakes and then the pedal went all the way to the floor as if it lost all pressure. I swear it felt like the subframe fell out. I stopped and got out and looked under the car didn't see anything. I put the car in reverse (its auto) and then again it felt like I hit a wall. I slowly crept it back home, and then it locked up again. The e-brake handle wont move up when I try to move it.

What happened? Is it the line or the rear calipers or what? What should I look at? :confused: The car is a stock auto 95 S14 base.

If the handle won't go up check the parking brake cable. Something may have pulled it, like it geting wrapped on the driveshaft, which engaged it. The pedal would go to the floor. My first step I would check that. If not, check the sliders on the rear. They could have rusted not allowing the caliper to open. Lack of lube there will cause that. The rubber dust boot won't keep the moisture out. If they rusted, remove one of the 14mm bolts and work it moving the caliper up and down in the bracket. Once out, take fine sand paper and sand the sliders smooth. Lube with caliper sliders with grease and re-install. Should be fine after that. Let me know if that doesn't help.

Where is the cable under the car? Need a visual aid here, the FSM isn't helping. And do I just take my wheels off and see if rotates?

Look between the upper arms. The line on the left of the axle.

Ok, I got the car up on the jacks and put it in Neutral with e-brake down. It looks like its the driver side rear caliper since the wheel will not freely rotate, while the passenger side does.

I'm thinking I'll get another used caliper or a rebuilt one from the autoparts, they quoted me $85 for the caliper without bracket. I don't know what they mean by bracket? :confused:

dont worry just resuse the old caliper bracket from the old one, just leave money for a core deposit, take the new one home and swap what u need and bring whats left back to the autoparts store, they wont know wtf they got in their hands

the bracket is the piece of metal that you bolt the caliper to. you use two bolts to bolt the bracket to the actual spindle/knuckle/upright/whatever you want to call it, and THEN you bolt the caliper to the bracket. na mean

the calipers on the s14/s13 are all floating calipers so the actual bracket appears to be part of the caliper. imagine doing your brake job where u usually loosen the 2 bolts for the caliper n ur able to pull off the caliper the part that stays on the rotor assy is the bracket they speak of.
