Need oil pan help

I am finally getting comfortable with the idea of taking my car out on the track now that I have decent brakes (q45 setup), decent suspension (ground control/kybagx/eibach), and jesus, decent wheel studs (six of mine were destroyed, found out when I swapped the brakes).

So no my question is, which oil pan do I go with. I have a redtop sr20det, but I have heard bad things about the stock pan, that they are not very strong and what not.

I have searched and it seems most people go with the Greddy? Are their any other good options out there? Or should I just go with the Greddy. My stock one doesn't have any dents but it still looks a little rough. Thanks, this is one part where price really isn't a HUGE issue, nothing matters to me more than safety and reliable engine performance.

As long as it's not dented up, the stock pan w/ a stock powered sr will work just fine...

however, if you do want to go w/ an after market oil pan for added oil capacity/peace of mind, just do the Greddy one. There are others, i.e. ARC oil pan, Tomei, etc. But they are basically the same or much more expensive for not "that" much better.

Well it is true that the stock oil pan isn't that strong, but if you hit something hard enough with the Greddy oil pan it will crack also. So keep that in mind.

Just try your best not to dirt drop it.

Also if you want take off the stock oil pan and bang it out where the oil pick up is.

When you take off the oil pan and look inside and if there is a kiss mark on the inside then that means that the oil pan is hitting the oil pick up which is bad.

The stock pan is fine as long as it's not dented in. The only real downside is no increased capacity of aftermarket pans. It's recommended that you use the the later pickup tube as it is better reinforced as well as having a different cutout that prevents it from being completely blocked off if the pan contacts it (you can mod a stock redtop p/u like this as well). If you stock pan is dented just bash it back into shape with a hammer and a phonebook.

i'd go with a greddy. (even though this topic has been beaten to DEATH)

yeah...the cheaper knockoffs can crack, but I know guys who've dropped their engines off cherry pickers onto the greddy pan, and it still held up.

also, since you like the idea of putting it on the track, you may want the extra capacity and trap doors to make sure your engine doesn't suffer from starvation.

that powered by max company has a oil pan skid plate for a round a hundered if you want added security

Like I've said before, best thing about running a Greddy pan, if it breaks, you'll know cuz itll leak. Stock OEM pan will fold and dent, you wont know unless you check your shit on a regular basis or when your engine dies from oil starvation...

Or you could keep the stock pan and get a cover/plate for it. It's cheaper than the greddy and it gives you peace of mind. There are several types of plates out there of varying price, just search around.

There was also a tomei copy pan at rnd factory, but when I just went to their site it was gone (?).

I would go with a sheet metal one they wont crack...Ill post piks of mine when i get a chance...
