I understand the fear, but what is the reason that you shouldn't? What kind of problems will they have?

haha jesus christ dude. let me tell you. "ka-t" ic piping from ebay, fits like crap. turbos.... ugh.... ebay turbos. i dont know if they even run bearings. they're good for like a 100 miles and then either it seizes or detonates upon start up. Ive heard and seen a few success stories, but only like 1 out of 1000. however, the manifold isnt all that bad, been running one for almost a year now and no problems. everything else is crap. o yeah, the intercooler itself isnt half bad. honestly... you can get a kat setup for like 500$ if you part it from people on the board. trust me... what you pay on ebay for that crap, you can get on the board for so much cheaper.

well its still no where near a complete kit. You still need the oil lines, i/c piping, fuel injectors (at least sr 370cc), fuel management, and a little more knowledge with whats involved in boosting a car. Also in terms of ebay quality, you can prob get away with the manifold, i/c, and there's a thread discussing the ebay bov. I would kind of hesitate on the turbo as there have some failures of them. Just do a lot of research, do some more, and then post questions about something your 110% not sure of.

The intercooler, BOV, pipings, and ex. manifolds are ususally alright, but the turbo is a pretty sophisticated piece that should be trusted if bought from Ebay.

well, in my expierience...the manifold was horrible. I bought mine seperately on ebay and it cracked after only about 200 miles on the engine. Had to spend $1k to get it removed and have a custom one made.
But always remember this simple rule of thumb...
"Fast, Cheap, Reliable: Pick 2"

This is what gets you knocked out! EBAY is no good for any group product, unless you're already going to that market knowing what you are looking for SPECIFICALLY!

You want to turbo your ka? Here's some solid help
http://ka-t.org/
Good luck, all of the facts are there.
ive seen a good amount of ppl run that mani with no problems iveen been running it and it seems ok.
i would tell some one to juss put new welds and braces.
if you had it crack in one gas tank that you might of heated it way too hot and all the sudden it got cold. who knows.
that turbo kit sucks i would just piece it together.
find a garrett turbo atleast.
get a brand name or oem bov
fmic or smic would work.
only thing that will work is the mani and elbow.
you will need oil lines. jgs sells a oil lines
you can part it all together for pretty cheap.
bad things about mani. they crack.
ebay turbo very bad quility. reviews from otheres bad oil flow to none, shaft isnt balanced.
fake bov, surge break.

I'd seriously avoid that unless you know someone personally that got it to work for cheap...much of the parts you need are not included. You are basically getting a tiny turbo and a questionable FMIC for that price. The rest of the parts may be ready to fail from the start. There are tons of ebay turbo horror stories out there especially bad manifolds and sold as new turbos that were actually just cleaned up junkyard pulls.

^^^ thats just wrong! hahha and your ass smelt like vasoline... anyways away from the petifile talk. ebay turbo kits may be cheap and tempting but very un reliable turbos that usually shit th bed within a month or less..
like everyone said. you can piece together your own kit, a nice kit for less then 1000 in most cases!

:) I think he knows that now...you may want to provide more details to help.
To the OP...there is a good set of stickies here (http://www.240sxforums.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=10), it's a combination of things from zilvia and the other forums but it's all in one place.
Budget really determines what you do. If someone had no budget it'd be probably in their best interest to send the car to AMS or the like for a couple weeks ;).
After budget, then power level is key. You can push your power level at each price point depending on how much risk you want to take.
If you are just starting out with the 240sx, I'd get the supporting mods done like exhaust, intake you can reuse in part, maybe upgrade your radiator/fans when you get the money, etc. Once you have the foundation laid it's just a matter of buying the manifold, turbo, and intercooler (plus miscellanous lines)...you can even pick up whatever electronics you'd like ahead of time and use them NA some of the time.
The only 'turbo stuff' I'd pick up off ebay would be a major kit from a trusted seller or someone in a hardship case like someone that bought a Greddy setup and then rolled their car while it was in shipment...or individual parts.
Turbos themselves are risky unless you absolutely trust the seller. Many dudes are running all over up-pick-it's and grabbing all the snails they can find, bead blasting/polishing them up and then selling them as if they pulled them off a low mile car that was running.
Worst case is they get your money and others and then disappear.
