Well..after spending money on my "Codyace" AC bracket..Turns out I have a GEN 2 Redtop (??) motor so that didn't work anyway ($80 into garbage can - not his fault..I didn't know)...To top it off..I believe my AC compressor is Aftermarket Maybe??Can anyone comment on this??.Check this out:

Notice the A/C line resting up against the Wastegate..as well as it sitting right in front of the intake pipe?WTF??:eek3:
This comp is leaking a bit but was on my car since I've owned it...ALSO Notice the Big Giant Hexagon peice HOW Big it is right below the P/S line/WTF?
------------------crazy thing-----------------------
What I don't understand is..looking at the SR COmpressor...the A/C lines match the US one damn near perfectly (heard custom lines had to be made or something??) and of course would bolt up Perfectly.

My US compressor can only Fit the 2 front Holes toward the Radiator..maybe the bottom Right one too but didn't get that far.

Ho do I Evac to put a new comp on if thats what I need (obviously)..what are my options.Car is down @ my house...can't get it to work to Evac the system..What should I do.

No..hell no.I will sell it once I figure out WHAT the Hell is up w/ my Compressor and why its blocking the intake pipe & sitting on the wastegate???

just found this pic of a guy doing A/C removal and his Looks the exact SAME as mine. Why is mine Hitting??

Been troubleshooting with the o/p about this for the last 30 minutes or so. Seems as if there has been a confusion with bracket and comrpessor type.

Working it out as we speak :D

Don't know how similar a 2nd gen red top is to a 1st gen s13 black top but for my 1st gen s13 blacktop (out of a 1996 180sx) I used a 1st gen red top bracket to bolt my ka compressor on. Only 3 holes line up but it works fine.

the picture with the pump on the sr is the KA 91-93 AC pump. it's bolted onto the redtop ac bracket (first two front bolts). Just bend the lines so it clears the intake piping and wastegate.

the US compressor you have looks to be from a 97+ ka.

Its not gonna bust out Freon everywhere if I somehow break it correct??

I'm gonna try Codyace bracekt and make sure the pulleys line up...just gotta bend this line i guess.
As of now on the front 2 bolts are in using the redtop bracket w/ my USDM compressor.

we'll see how it turns out.Hopefully I won't bust the line or anything.

Should I go ahead and loosen the bracket that holds the Pressure line on the firewall for extra slack and moveability of the line????

Thanks guys.

Yea, mine did the same thing, though even worse on a GT turbo with 3" inlet.

I just took the shit off, oh well.

mine did the same thing on my s13 with Type X blacktop and my s14 with cody's brackets and type x blacktop.

I just bent the line on both cars.. good to go.

Cool...so if running no Codyace Bracket and bending the lines enough to clear the w/g and intake pipe..the belt won't fly off right...or I don't have to trim a rib off the belt right?? Thought i read that somewhere?

What was the point of his bracket on this car then if it fits fine w/ just the 2 front bolts attached...Just to make sure it (pulleys) lines up Perfectly?? or what?

BTW: S13 DOHC KA Car/motor to S13 redtop motor using KA compressor (*Gen 2 - don't think it matters)

some people get paranoid that 2 bolts wont hold it well enough.

In my case with the type x blacktop the ac compressor does not line up properly at all.. my pulley actually binds against the tensioner. So his brackets did the trick for me perfect.

Redtop with DOHC compressor allows 2 of 4 to line up, and like i said above.. cody's brackets simply allow for all 4 bolts to be used.. instead of just 2.

Actually..his bracket only allows for 3 bolts - it uses a lower Plate I guess to push the compressor out a bit towards the side wall of the engine bay & maybe pushes it more toward the rad too..IDK..but the Top left bolt uses a Spacer between the Compressor and the SR bracket so that it will sit Flush w/ the lower plate.I guess making the blet work?????Or so it lines up w/ the pulley better? IDK..I have yet to try it out.Its a P.I.T.A w/ the motor in,..but the mounts are still loose so i can move it a bit.

.He couldn't Fabricate anythuing for 4 bolts on the Redtop.

I just wanna know about the belt now. Will it Fly off....does it have to be trimmed Mainly if I don't USE his bracket?Should work fine yes?

on my s13, with redotop bracket on the block and KA AC compressor i was able two bolts to line up and the belt fit with no modification at all. Simply had to bend the line so it would clear the inlet on the turbo.

cody's brackets just depends on what AC pump and sr20 you're using.

if you have 91-93 usdm ac pump on any sr20 (redtop ac bracket), then you dont need his bracket.

on my sr20 redtop, i had the 95-96 usdm ac pump and his bracket made my pump move 5mm forward for the belts to line up.

i've seen 97-98 kouki usdm ac pump bolt right up to a 97+ s14 sr20 (could've been just the 2-3 bolts)

if you had a blacktop sr20 AC bracket, then your 97+ usdm pump should line right up.

hmmm..thats what I thought.
So I guess its just for added security that 3 bolts will mount w/ his,..over the 2 bolt method...but his would Push the compressor Out about a 1/2" from the SR bracket...that must be for something???I bought the belt from him and everything.Weird.
That was before I had the SR staring me in the face w/ what needed to be done..so there was no way to know that.I saw "A/C for SR20 w/ no problems".thats all I needed to hear for me to buy it.

So my DOHC compressor will work with my redtop? No bracket required?

if it's the 91-93 dohc compressor, then yes. if it's the 95-96 comporessor then you need his bracket. he has other brackets depending on your setup.
