so i am doing a auto to 5 speed swap in a 91 doch motor and want to know what ecu to use. i was told that the auto ecu is better because of no rev limiter/ govener. any help please????

yup just stick with the auto ecu like u said no rev limiter.... or unless u want one just go with the manual ecu.

Why would you blow the motor?? Just because you have no rev limiter?? Just don't get rev happy, simple as that, know when to shift.

I think there is still a rev limited, just no speed limiter. I kept my auto ecu and no issues. :bigok:

Yup no speed limiter, but it still has a rev limit. My auto ecu worked fine with my 5 speed swap.

the worst you get is a high idle sometimes.

just make sure u get the same yr of your car
ex
91 manual ecu to auto 91 ecu
murda - its normal itll idle up to 2k then itll come back down to 900 rpm

theres no way to adjust that to normal idle right?

what about if you have a sr?
can you still change it to a auto ecu?
im guessing you cant?
or other then cutting the 5th gear wire how can i remove speed limit.

Mine will idle at 2k if i have it in gear and my foot on the clutch...sometimes...it hasn't done it in a while though.
