Update ***Fixed***

So Ive got my build to this point...

Build thread:

1992 240sx with 1995 180sx Blacktop. E5 ECU.

So now I have my first issue. Harness was done by wiring specialities about a year ago. The issue is; no power or ground to ECU. Egine cranks and I got oil pressure. No bulb check at the dash was my first clue. No CEL, and no lights on the ECU. Fuel pump does not prime with initial key on. When I checked the black/white wire pictured, with a 12v test light, I had the ECU relay click, so I am assuming I supplied the ground to the relay. I been searching for a E5 Ecu pinout, but cant find one, and I am not sure what redtop one is the same.

***UPDATE***

Ok, I just went and verified the ground points that I know of with a volt/ohm meter. all had continuity to ground. I need to move my alt. ground off the intake manifold to the alternator, but I dont think that would make any difference.

***UPDATE***

So after finding a pinout (thanks PLX devices) Ive verified that ive got ground and constant 12v to the ECU plug, What I dont have is Swithced Power. Ive verified that the Black/Red from ignition to the ECU and FP fuses is good and those fuses are hot with the ignition on. I know from the electrical diagram, that after the ECU fuse the switched power wire is Black/white. When I back probe the body to engine harness black/white (pictured above) my test light lights up and the fuel pump runs ????. Anyone got any ideas??

the black/white wire is the ecu back up power. did u call wiring specialty?? did you use the original lower harness that came with your shell. get a REAL ecu pinout (not plx) and verify power on your ecu back up pin at the ecu, with a dmm not a test light. USE DMM not test light. back probing low resistance/voltage circuits (not that these particular ones are low voltage/resistance) can pop transistors/capacitors/resistors in your ecm. gl

ITS...ALIVE!!

So after emailing and calling Wiring Specialities and not gettting any response.
I decided to go after it myself. Many hours of online searching and reading led me to a couple of diagrams for the E5 ECU, and a full power routing schematic for the 92 240sx.

Checking for continuity through the plug as a starting point on the KA black/red wire connector.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/yesd0g/Project%20240/DSCN3693.jpg

There seem to be two black/white wires on my KA side harness. I confirmed one is soldered to a B/W wire to ECU pin 47. The other KA side B/W was soldered to the SR side black/red. The KA black/red was tied to the SR blue/red.

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j11/yesd0g/Project%20240/DSCN3694.jpg

So what I did was cut the KA Black/White to SR Black/Red and soldered it in with the SR Blue/Red. Both are now fed from the KA Black/Red, leaving a loose KA Black/White. I still need to figure out what it belongs to. One thing I did notice, I have no bulb check with key on. So I dont know if my lower left lights (including the CEL) work.

I sent my KA engine and lower harness along with my SR engine and lower harness to Wiring Specialties.

I did all my checking and such with the ECU disconnected. According to how mine is wired, B/W is switched power to ECU pin 47. ECU pin 46 is backup power, and that is solid red. I confirmed this on two different ECU pinout schematics.

Thanks for the advice tho.

solid red = battery voltage, that's what kicks your alternator on as well as provides back/up power., black/red is your ecu ignition power source, your blue/red is your coil pack ignition 12v power source, that's y it worked when you connected them together

gj on finding that, glad it's running
