OK, so my SR sounds like a UPS truck. Im going to take the stock fan off and thinking about an electronic fan (taurus etc) or find a new fan clutch. Im going to take my stock fan off tomorrow, but just want to make sure from people that have done it that its OK to do without anything else needed. Ill be hunting the junk yrds next week for a fan but its been snowing here in seattle so I think im good with just limited driving w/o a fan for a few days.
So I can just unbolt the fan and clutch? Do the bolts that hold the fan on go back into the pully? Or do I just pull the fan and clutch off and leave it at that?
Ive searched the subject but just wanted some reassurance before I go and unbolt stuff when I need the car for a daily. I have a history of screwing easy stuff up
thanks, sb

Unbolt the fan and clutch. Leave the bolts on for the pulley. This is for your water pump.

The Taurus fan is electric.
Just much cheaper if you land one at the junkyard, and should be plenty fine with daily driving, especially in cold cold Washington.

keep clutch fan and stock shroud its the BEST thing you can do... and its been proven many many times! even the top drift/race cars still use the clutch fans!

I agree that with a good radiator(stock just doesn't cut it IMO), the stock clutch fan and shoud are tough to beat. Electric is great if done right, but ditching the clutch fan isn't always necessary.
In regards to the original post, you can unbolt the fan and replace the bolts for the pulley. Just don't overheat the car! And don't trust the stock gauge!

I have seen/heard of people running their car with out any fans at all. Im sure it will be fine for a couple days if its cold outside like you said it is. But watch ur temps. remember the only air the radaitor is going to get is what air comes in from the front of the car. With that being said. dont let it idle for along time and dont drive real close to other vehicals. Stay a good ways back, so the air is able to hit your car.

thanks to all. I looked at the fan and clutch today. I have a koyo so I wasnt too concerned with the overheating but I decided to keep it on until I get a replacement. Im still undecided weather to go with an e-fan or try and find a clutch....
