i searched and didnt find quite what i was looking for. i need new sway bars for my car. most importantly, a rear. my car is a 98 se that came with stock sways. the car has coilovers, vlsd, and 18 inch wheels if that is relevant.
its not a track slut, but will see some track time (grip & drift) it is also an occasional daily to and from work.
what sway bars would be best in this all purpose type of scenario?
also any suggestions on where to buy, and end links, bushings, etc would be amazing!

Progress ones come with spherical end links, and IIRC compared favorably to other ones (tanabe, whiteline, etc)

and they are probably a good deal price-wise

of course, there is no real "best", it depends how u want to set up your car and how your coilovers are set up

The whiteline bars are pretty good and are adjustable both front and rear. The largus bars are VEEERRRYYYY beefy but only the front is adjustable. The progress bars are pretty hard to get from what I have heard. I think whiteline sells spherical bearing equipped endlinks. SPL sells rear spherical endlinks and largus makes front spherical links. For grip you would probably want to disconnect the rear bar and then re-connect it for drift events. Really for grip you don't need a rear bar, just the front.

the largus i think are going to be too much for me.
i just want something better than stock in all aspects of driving, has better than stock endlinks, without having something that weighs a ton.

I've been running the Suspension Technique Sways Bars. I went with ST because the kit came complete with mounting brackets, bushings and end links. Which was a plus for me because my base model S14 didn't come with a rear sway. The sizing compared to other brands isn't as aggressive but the difference was still night and day. Purchased from summit, was about 240-250 shipped to my door.

It's hard to pick one certain brand of sway bars because they all have their strengths and weaknesses. Whitelines are fairly cheap and easy to get, and are moderately stiffer than stock, but the endlinks are junk. Progress is super stiff for cars running a softer spring rate, and the endlinks are good. Largus is a lot like Progress but they are hollow and MUCH lighter... don't discount them because the front bar only has 2 adjustment holes instead of 3, they are going to be about as stiff as the solid Progress bars. But Largus bars are expensive (especially the optional endlinks) and don't clear big oil pans.

ST are great for a street car with a mild setup, but for a car seeing any sort of auto-x/track day/drift action, the options I listed above are better choices.

IMO, the Whitelines are the best OTS bars. They just add a "finishing touch" to your roll stiffness without taking it over (Progress, Largus) and you can fix the endlink issue with $40 heims from McMaster-Carr.

If you had an S13, I would say Progress, since those have a good range of adjustment (stock stiffness to ultra stiff), but I've been reading that the S14 version is super stiff in any position.

Now, if you wanted the BEST BARS PERIOD, you would have to go to Speedway Engineering to have them make you some custom splined bars, but that's overkill for most people. :p

It suprises me that no one has really mentioned Tanabe swaybars. I really love mine, I've tried quite a few others and I'd have to say they are some of the more balanced bars out there... I wish they were adjustable tho...

i think thats one of the things i liked most about them, NOT being adjustable. i am not a track junkie, and i dont pretend to be. i look at it as less room for error. lol.

I have the ST bars and love them.... my suspension includes KTS coilovers and pretty much every link you can get. The bars are pretty cheap and work great.... bushings are poly and everything is very solid once installed.
I didnt like the ugly green color so I painted them to match my KTS coilover:)

Id go with ST bars if I was going to do it again.

Tanabe I think they are the same size as the Largus for the rear. I wish I could ofo gotten some new front swaybar mounts. I love them!
