Let the flaming begin. But damnit, be helpful if you can.
ok, first off, I have done some searching before posting this thread.
secondly, I do realize that I am putting myself down by posting this thread when I advertise my wiring ability in my sig.
OK, lets get to it.
A friend bought a S14 SR20DET to install in her S13, I offered to do the wiring to help save money, seemed like the right thing to do. Now, my wiring exp. stems from wiring up my S13 coupe after converting it to RHD, of which everything I've wired so far works, you name it, power windows, master control, tail lights, brake lights, fuel pump, fuel sending unit, like I said, you name it, and it works on my car.
The swap was supposed to be pulled off in a week, and needless to say it's been 2 weeks now. If I would've had more time, and been warned further in advance, I would have tried to compare FSM's and go from there. I sourced what I thought would turn out to be a great reference for wiring,
-the engine turns over, so it's getting a starter signal
-the engine is getting spark, so the igniter and plugs are good
-the CAS wasn't sending 5v signal for injectors, so the CAS was replaced, and now tests fine.
-the injectors ARE NOT spraying.
I'm told that the injectors see 12v on both wires going to them, and when they spray, it is a result of one of the wires being grounded. Just to test the injectors I cut up the already stripped KA24DE harness to rape an injector plug, when given 12v on one wire, and a ground on the other, the injector sprays.
Question 1: the cas was replaced, and test fine now. BUT could the CAS give the coils signal to spark AND the ECU be bad?
Question 2: the ECU does not have an L.E.D. that comes on when the car is switch on, ( i removed the ECU cover and looked, only 2 holes in the board where the L.E.D. could go.) how would I know if the ECU was bad?
I'm on the East Coast, and personally do not know anyone that has ever done an S14 SR20DET swap into an S13, I'm not aware if it is more popular on the West Coast, or if it is more common to swap an S14 SR20DET into an S14.
I'm sure I have forgotten to post some needed info here, don't hate, just ask me and I'll post it up, no problem.
