Its not spun bearings/rod knock as i tested that with the sparkplug theory

ITS REALLY LOUD when i put my ears to the Cam gears/chain

im thinking its the chain

i havnt touched jack cept changing the 248/248 to stock cams and took off the guide on the right side

Is the noise from the guide?i might try to put it back to see if the noise is fixed

Yeah, definitely put you're guide back on and see what happens. you're really only supposed to take off the top guide because it breaks. But taking off any other guides seems like a bad idea.

might want to check the tensioner while you're at it. Sometimes gunk builds up and they seize.

Mine valvetrain got nasty loud when the timing chain slide guide broke into little plastic pieces blocking the oil pickup, the noise was caused due to lack of oil lubrication so check and make sure you got oil flow to the head by removing the oil cap, some oil should splash around out the oil cap hole.

yea you are suppose to be able to push it. Try spraying some wd40 and work at it. It might need to be replaced.

removing both top guides under the upper timing cover is perfectly fine

the bottom guide on the bottom end is the only one necessary

if you have slack chain slapping shit, its not the top guides. they do nothing mechanically. you're going to want to check the tensioner like everyone else said, which is that little block on the left under the upper timing cover.

I know you guys are mentioning the tensioner, however dont know if you guys were paying attention to what I was refferening to as the "slide guide" not the tensionor.

Nissan actually put out a service bulletin out on this part im talking about, this is the part that is known for making the noises not the top upper guide or the side upper guide, but the lower right hand side (driver side) slide guide.

Look at (New Tension slide guide) below:

Tensioner is fine

i think i was off a chain?
marker to marker was 8 chains

factory marking is 7 chains

well i just redid the cams

still rattling

very distint at 2500-3000
then i cant hear it anymore after
imma try to make a video after i shower

i should add that there is no rattling/ticking noise at idle

the lower guide is on the front of the engine under the lower timing cover

its not particularly prone to breaking in my experience. but the 240sx one is made of plastic as well (at least in 95s)... i know because i'm holding one in my hand right now

Thats is correct but mine did break, as far as I know to my knowledge they didn't make this change to the steel back slide guide until September 29 1997 for the Altima and im sure that includes all S13/S14 models to since they use the same exact part.
